Thoughts on both names? Which do you prefer?

I have Isobel my name, never cared for it much!

Love Caroline!

StellaOlivetti · 15/11/2023 21:43

I love the name Caroline, and think it’s definitely going to come back. Isabelle is too frilly for me, although I do like it spelt Isobel. Wouldn’t use it personally though, just too popular.

theduchessofspork · 15/11/2023 21:36

Caroline Isabel is very nice

theduchessofspork · 15/11/2023 21:35

Caroline

It’s very elegant, and Callie is a nice nn

There are aproximately 27 billion Isabel/Isabelle/Isobel/Isabellas aged 0 to early 20s

Caroline as it's less common. I liked Carolina for my DD but there's another in the family.

Daisybuttercup12345 · 15/11/2023 19:57

Caroline is lovely. Very refreshing.

RunBorisRun · 15/11/2023 19:16

I'm not a fan of Caroline, but Isabel/Isabelle/Isobel are all rooted in different cultures, so I'd consider that before choosing the spelling. One is probably more relevant to your family.

DuchessOfSausage · 15/11/2023 19:03

Caroline

BackToWhereItAllBegan · 15/11/2023 18:31

Love both names but I think Caroline is my favourite. Ive met a few teenage Caroline's recently and it always strikes me that it's such a pretty name!

CurlewKate · 15/11/2023 17:54

Caroline! Such a lovely underused name!

ChannelNo19EDT · 15/11/2023 17:52

Caroline. There are so many Isabelles. .y dd age 20 has a few friends called Isabelle, so it may not be so popular anymore but that's kinda worse. Bit like being 35 but called Sharon

schnubbins · 15/11/2023 17:40

Caroline or my favourite Karolina

LilyLemonade · 15/11/2023 17:27

Caroline, very elegant and classy. .
Isabelle is lovely but soooo popular.

muddyford · 15/11/2023 17:24

Caroline, but I love the other name spelt Isobel.

chipshopElvis · 15/11/2023 17:23

Caroline! I love it. Beautiful, classic and very underused. If I had another this is my first choice.

Username109823222 · 15/11/2023 17:22

I have a wonderful friend with a little girl called Caroline - she's a lovely little girl.

Velvetbee · 15/11/2023 17:18

Caroline. Lovely name.

tokesqueen · 15/11/2023 17:16

Not another Isabelle.

ginasevern · 15/11/2023 17:05

Another vote for Caroline. It is classic, timeless and distinguished. Isabelle (however you spell it) is pretty but there are gazillions of them.

daisypond · 15/11/2023 16:48

Caroline is much fresher, while being a classic.

Isabelle is so frilly and now a bit dated - there are loads of them. Isabel or Isobel is a better, simpler and classier spelling. It’s a nice name.

MaloneMeadow · 15/11/2023 16:18

Isabelle but much prefer the Isabel spelling, much classier and more elegant in my opinion. Caroline is very dated to the 70s

Incey · 15/11/2023 16:17

Caroline. Isabelle (any spelling) is so dull.

caringcarer · 15/11/2023 16:09

They are both lovely names.

Sconehenge · 15/11/2023 15:26

Caroline seems a bit dated to me, it’s our parents generation rather than cool old lady name yet, in another generation it will be cool again.

So Isabelle is my choice but agree that “Isobel” spelling feels more modern and less frilly! I don’t think it matters if there are lots of Isobel’s in her class - hasn’t seem to have held back any of the Emilys or Sarahs or Lauras that I know from school!

HoHoHoliday · 15/11/2023 15:22

Caroline, I love this name. It's timeless, classic, elegant.
If you wanted to use both I think Isobel is much nicer as a spelling.
Caroline Isobel.
