Final few boys names

DS is 1 week old today & we still can decide on a name! Final choices are:

  • Alexander
  • Nicholas
  • Henry
  • Dillon

I don't love any of them particularly, I feel we need to name him soon instead of just 'baby' & it will help me & DD (who has just turned 3) bond with him more! DD has a traditional name so we wanted something in keeping with that.

Any other suggestions?

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Patrick

I like Alexander and Henry.

Do any of them sound better with your surname? I guess you've discounted all the obvious traditional ones such as William and James. Other traditional names I'd suggest are:

Alistair
Julian
Philip
Patrick
Nathaniel
Edgar
Wilfred
Richard
Michael
Jonathan/John

Love them all except for Dillon - ‘dildo Dillon’ was a nickname for a teacher in DD’s school and I’ve never been able to unhear it 🙈

Sebastian, Reuben & Julian are my other favourites for boys!

I love Alexander.
@Misspacorabanne has some lovely suggestions ( apart from George !).
Adam.
Luke.

I love Nicholas so that would be my choice from your list.
But how have you ended up with a short list with none that you love? Do you and DP have different tastes and had to compromise?
Surely, wait until you come across a name that you do love? There is no rush to name the baby yet.

Alexander or Nicholas. Congrats x

It's so tough naming boys isn't it!?
We had Edward and Alexander as our two options.
We chose Edward for DS1 and would have Alexander if we have another boy.
We've got a huge list of girls names, plenty of them to choose from 😅

princefamilypaper · 06/11/2023 14:41

Alexander

DustyLee123 · 06/11/2023 14:41

I prefer the spelling Dylan.
But I only like Henry from your list.
My favourite name is Ruben, but how about Edward/Ed/Ted/Teddy/Ned/Neddy?

Misspacorabanne · 06/11/2023 14:39

I like Dillon!
They are all lovely strong names. So I don’t think you would go wrong with any of them.

Few more suggestions,

Samuel,
Joshua,
Dominic,
George,
Benjamin,
Charlie,
Harry.

You have probably discounted a lot already, but also good strong boys names in my opinion.
