Tegan is the welsh word for toy, and Delen is an NHS database.

Referring to a pp, don't call your daughter Melys. It's Welsh for sweet and it would sound ludicrous to a Welsh speaker.
I'd warn against any name you're not immediately sure of how to pronounce. Not because all names should be easy to pronounce, but because you, as a parent, should have a significant relationship to the name iykwim.

This.
Also Melys isn't a term of endearment, it's an adjective for how something tastes or smells.

Another name suggestion: Dwynwen

SheilaFentiman · 02/11/2023 20:37

Elodie

It's not, but there is a tendency to say Eirwen and Eurwen the same way.
Eira is EyR-a with the Ey short.

KirstenBlest · 02/11/2023 18:56

Elowen - will get 2 different pronunciations
Lowenna - nice
Eirwen - grannyish not in a good way, the Eir will probably get mangled

Similar names:
Alwen/Alwenna, Rowella, Rowena, Morwen/Morwenna
Eirlys, Eleri, Eira, Eluned, Aeronwy, Myfanwy

Not ANWYN! That really is not a name. Anwen is.

How is the Eir in Eira and Eirwen different?
