Hi everyone! I hope you're well. I wanted to ask you guys for your input, after some consultant work with my husband, we agreed on Rhye Remore for our boy.(pronounced re-mor-ay).

What do you guys think? 🙏

I don't get it....

It's from a song

I don't get it....

There’s a famous song, but the lyrics are Amore, not Ramore. This user is just making an association. It’s not a huge deal.

Neither is the Drake Ramorey association, OP

DragonFly98 · 29/10/2023 13:43

It's awful, is this a joke?

CamiliaRaphael · 29/10/2023 13:42

NashvilleQueen · 28/10/2023 22:40

I'm afraid my instinct is to sing 'when the moon hits your eye like a big pizza pie that's Ramore'.

I don't get it....

Are you in the UK OP?

Is the first name going to be Rhye and then your surname is Ramore?

If so, then it's OK as a combination. I think people thought you were planning to name him Rhye Ramore [Smith] or whatever your surname is.

If you like the alliteration are there any other "R" names you like?

thesnailandthewhale · 28/10/2023 21:36

I like Rhye, that's unusual. Remory makes me think of Joeys character Drake Ramorey from Friends Confused

And that's a bad thing?):

This is either Saturday night Mumsnet bullshit or your consultant is laughing all the way to the bank.

Probably.

Yes hahh, what a small world.
I feel like I've been posting a lot on Nameberry and I don't want to be that annoying pregnant girl):

Nameberry is probably the better forum for this. You’re more likely to have negative reactions here as it’s primarily British, so unless the names are “standard” “normal in English speaking countries” names, your post will just gather rude comments

Rhye Remore - is this first and middle or first and surname?

They isn't my personal choice but I think it's fine. Prefer Rhys and it's possible people will think it's a typo but once you've told them how to say it, it's fine. Same with Remore. I'd pronounce it Re-more. Don't like it but as a middle name, who cares what people think?

That's a first and a surname as of now. And yes that's how It's supposed to be pronounced, like Amore but with that Ra sounds at the beginning.

Bobtheamazinggingerdog · 28/10/2023 21:36

is it from a specific culture? I've never seen the name remore before and not sure people will pronounce it correctly (though it doesn't matter really for a middle name) why the spelling of Rhye? Rye would be ok. Rhye is not a great spelling.

That's originally a Latino name. And it's supposed to be the last name.

Sorry? What do you mean?

Hey! You’re on Nameberry right? Your husband is from Israel?

If it is you, honestly I wouldn’t recommend asking for name advice here. People on Nameberry are nicer even in their negative reactions. Especially when it comes to “unique” or “foreign” names

Might be a plan to wait until the hormones settle and have a rethink

RachBakesCakes · 28/10/2023 23:18

I like Rhye, it's different in a good way. Remore is different in a bad way, sorry OP

steppemum · 28/10/2023 23:15

Well my initial thought is that I don't know how to pronouce either of them.
Honestly, giving your child a name that no-one can spell or say is really a pain, and you will quickly get sick of it always being said and written wrong.
They can't even default to their middle name if that is the same.

I think if Rhye is pronounced Rye, then spell it Rye.

Robotalkingrubbish · 28/10/2023 23:15

Your child will spend his entire life having to spell his name. 🤷‍♀️

“Babe, you can't just make up names. Your name isn't made up is it?”

Tbf everyone’s name was made up at one point.

Yes well all words were invented at one point, but it doesn't mean if somebody started to speak their own language that they'd made up themselves that anyone else would understand it.
