Hi everyone! I hope you're well. I wanted to ask you guys for your input, after some consultant work with my husband, we agreed on Rhye Remore for our boy.(pronounced re-mor-ay).

What do you guys think? 🙏

Only if you’re a marine biologist or pedantic!

I didn't even know it was a thing😅

Surely a windup? Rye (and this is how people will assume it's spelt) is a grain. A boring, brown, bland grain. Either that or they'll think it short for Ryan.

Why do people give their dc's these silly names in the quest to be "different" that means they'll be constantly having to explain/spell their name their whole life?

Your ds will not thank you, trust me.

It's no different from other nature derived names....

I don't understand...

Jonathan Ross is a UK tv personality who can't say R. He's say it as Whye Wemowe.

CamiliaRaphael · 01/11/2023 16:01

Why?

It rhymes with lyrics of a very famous song, it’s what a lot of people in the UK will associate it with. It’s very hard to look at the name without getting the song in your head.

Remore = remora, a bottom-feeding fish.

Not a great association.

I can only say it by singing it.

Why?

I've reported a couple of comments on this thread for you, OP.

Please don't let them annoy you.

Don't worry about that. Thank you so much tho!

Not too keen on Rhye just because it makes me things of rye bread. Which I feel is always a bit sad, leathery and dry. But if you like it go for it. It's nicer than a lot of other 'unique' popular names right now.

Why is that connotation of Rye come across as sad and leathery for you? It's a nature derived name like Sage,River,Briar....

I'm not British but I'm not a fan either. Is remore Hebrew, I am reminded of Dr drake ramore

I believe it's sephardic Jewish originally. What made you think it's Hebrew?(:
And is that connotation of Dr Drake Ramoray a bad thing? As it is a sort of banter name.

So few posters seem to read the OP’s posts! Remore is baby’s SURNAME so not up for criticism.

thesnailandthewhale · 28/10/2023 21:36

I like Rhye, that's unusual. Remory makes me think of Joeys character Drake Ramorey from Friends Confused

Me too! Don’t forget “Doctor” Drake Remore!
