Hi, I have managed to shorten my very long list down to these 8 names for my baby girl, so please give me your thoughts on them:
Rosalie, Tate, Maeve, Romy, Thea, Ruby, Zoey, Juno
I really want to hear other peoples opinions as I dont want to make the wrong choice, also if you have any similar name ideas please let me know!

OP posts:

I like them all EXCEPT Ruby.

pilates · 06/10/2023 20:47

Rosalie is my favourite
then Ruby
not keen on the rest

Hedjwitch · 06/10/2023 20:45

Our Rosie is a shortened version of Rosanna

sexnotgenders · 06/10/2023 20:44

Can't hear the name Romy without thinking of that cunt Johnson

Coffeeandcakemum · 06/10/2023 20:41

I like Ruby the best 😊

BoleynMemories13 · 06/10/2023 20:31

Ruby is by far my favourite, followed by Zoe but only this spelling. The y cheapens it.

Tate is a big no for me. First and foremost it's a surname. As a first name, it definitely suits boys better. It doesn't feel at all feminine to me.

Romy isn't for me either. Too trendy.

The others are ok.

MorrisWallpaper · 06/10/2023 19:39

Maeve or Thea. Tate is beyond awful. Rosalie and Romy are fine. Juno always sounds oversized to me. Why Zoey rather than Zoe or Zoē?

Autumnwreaths23 · 06/10/2023 19:36

I love Thea and Rosalie.

I like Zoe, but Zoey hurts my eyes for some reason.

MerryChristmasToYou · 06/10/2023 13:00

Rosalie - not keen, too close to Rosie Lee
Tate - surname, art gallery, sugar company
Maeve - don't like it
Romy - it's not awful but makes me think of ex-PM's daughter
Thea - Theo too popular
Ruby - ok
Zoey - Zoe is much better
Juno - too much

I don't really like any of them other than Zoe without the y

theduchessofspork · 06/10/2023 12:28

I like
Zoe, Juno, Thea, Ruby, Rosalie

  • probably in that order, but the extra y on Zoe will be annoying for her

Romy and Maeve are Ok

Tate is awful, it’s bad enough on a boy

LadyDanburysHat · 06/10/2023 11:08

Rosalie - not keen
Tate - I know a lovely girl called this, so I do like it
Maeve - just reminds me of Sex Education these days
Romy - I like this
Thea - I like this too, but feel it doesn't roll off the tongue well
Ruby - boring
Zoey - better spelled Zoe
Juno - not keen

LastNightAPandaSavedMyLife · 06/10/2023 11:02

I can’t imagine Tate on a girl.

I only like Thea out of your list.

Snugglemonkey · 06/10/2023 10:03

I think it depends where you are. I love Maeve, although would spell it Méabh, but I hate the way a lot of English people pronounce it. So I would never use it in England.

Romy is lovely, as is Juno.

Zola1 · 06/10/2023 08:14

Absolutely love Thea

Romy and Zoey are nice too. Tate I've never heard on a girl but don't think it sounds particularly feminine

Ruby is done to death. I find Rosalie ugly

Mumofgirls2017 · 06/10/2023 08:13

Rosalie- pretty, like
tate- acceptable for a boy
Maeve- quite like
romy- love esp as nn for romilly
, Thea- ok but bit bland
ruby- not a major fan and think will date
Zoey- dated
Juno- love

Bobbybobbins · 06/10/2023 07:54

I see Tate as a boys' name. Not keen on Romy but like the others.

AdaColeman · 06/10/2023 07:45

I don't like Tate or the Zoey spelling.

Maeve and Ruby are my favourites from your list.

While I quite like Juno, I think it might be a difficult name to live up to.

bzarda · 06/10/2023 07:30

I have a Maeve :) but we wouldn't have used if her dad wasn't Irish

I like Romy too, and agree about the Zoë spelling

FloofCloud · 06/10/2023 07:18

Love Tate, was on our boys list tho

TheLastPictureShow · 06/10/2023 07:10

Maeve, Romy, Thea - all gorgeous, strong (& not heavily used) options

Zoey - lovely name, but only when spelled Zöe

Ruby - feels like a dated from 10 years ago

Juno - very very popular

Rosalie - meh

Tate - no. It’s a fine for a museum or a 1980’s posh male American tv character, otherwise ignore the hormones and let this one go!

lizzaliza · 06/10/2023 07:09

Tate isn't very nice for a girl I don't think.

My favourites would be Rosalie, Juno, Romy or Zoe (spelled like this) - all lovely names!!

Whitewolf2 · 06/10/2023 06:54

Are you in America? I think Zoey with a y is just unnecessary in the uk and she’ll always have to spell her name out.
I like Rosalie, Maeve Thea and Zoe.

wandawaves · 06/10/2023 06:52

I love Maeve and Ruby.
Rosalie is ok.
I don't like any of the others.

GoodVibesHere · 06/10/2023 06:38

Tate is a boy's name, I know two adult males with this name

I'd prob go for Zoe or Rosalie but I'm not that keen on any of them sorry.

whosaidtha · 06/10/2023 06:28

Tate is definitely a boys name and I would hate to be called that.
I like Zoe but dislike the y on the end and I think it would be a pain and she'd constantly be 'zoey with a y'. Ruby is my favourite. Classic, not too popular, easy to spell and pronounce and transitions well from baby to child to adult.
