Stevie for a girl??

I have two DCs called Louis and Robyn. My husband is a Robert Louis Stevenson lover (though the names of our DCs are coincidental) and he thinks it would be funny to name our DD (due in November!) Stevie as a funny little homage to his favourite author.
While I have names I prefer, Stevie is growing on me but I don't know how common it is as a girls' name and I don't want her to be bullied.
Also is it ridiculous to have our three children be called Robyn, Louis and Stevie? Seems a bit obvious, so I'm not sure. But since Louis is the eldest they've always been Louis and Robyn rather than Robyn and Louis.

Would love some advice!

I know three female Stevie's, one in her 50's, one in her 30's and one of my DD's 16yo friends.

They will of course get the inevitable Stevie Nicks association but other than that I really don't see why a Stevie would be bullied as pp have said. It'll be quite normal in comparison to some of the wacky names that are starting to do the rounds in playgroups.

Stephanie with Stevie as a nickname is a simple solution.

@Yajebbend "private school though this makes me think less teasing"

Seriously? The teasing will probably be in posher accents, but there won't be less of it.

CurlewKate · 05/10/2023 12:36

Give her a girl's name.

PrancerandDancer · 05/10/2023 12:33

I know a little Stevie and she is awesome. Named after Stevie Nicks.
Also know more female Stevie's than male.

For Male it does appear a NN for Steve.

Shocked people still think of it as a mans name.

TiptoeThroughTheToadstools · 05/10/2023 12:31

I like Stevie for a girl but I can see how it would cause her issues growing up

MadisonAvenue · 05/10/2023 12:31

I know a Stevie whose full name is Stephanie.
Stephanie gives other choices as well as Stevie.

Viewfrommyhouse · 05/10/2023 12:31

I know a lovely young lady who's name is Stevie. It's a great name, I love it.

Snoopystick · 05/10/2023 12:31

Have an aunt Stevie who is in her 70s - so it’s not just a man’s name and it’s been around for a while!

Beaverbridge · 05/10/2023 12:29

I love it!

WaltzingWaters · 05/10/2023 12:27

I just thought of Stevie Nicks. I think it’s cute for a girl. But she’s actually Stephanie. Go for Stephanie (or something else that could be made into Stevie) so she has a choice when she’s older.

Yajebbend · 05/10/2023 12:23

@ShellySarah Nothing to do with that more likely there will be other ‘different’ names.

do you often get offended easily

Lemsipper · 05/10/2023 12:22

Im sorry OP but life is bloody hard enough for kids in school let alone when they are called a mans name like Stevie. Go unusual for sure, but she’s going to be called Steve.

DowntonCrabby · 05/10/2023 12:20

I like it, I’d just name her Stevie though and forgo formally using Stephanie unless you love that name too.

Fiddlesticks25 · 05/10/2023 12:18

Great name

Plump82 · 05/10/2023 12:14

I love it and if we had been lucky to have children, if we had a daughter she would be Stevie.

Donotforgetwhothetoothfairyis · 05/10/2023 12:14

I like Stevie for a girl. Stephanie would give her lots of options as she grows up too.

Glad people like it! 😊
I think I'll definitely suggest full name Stephanie but call her Stevie just so she has more options

Good idea! Smile

Nomoreclots · 05/10/2023 12:12

I really don't get the its not a real name it's a nn....utter nonsense

I love the name!

Daffodilwoman · 05/10/2023 12:09

I like it but yes it is a nickname.

OhYetAnotherBrickInTheWall · 05/10/2023 12:06

I know 2 Stevies (small girls). It’s becoming more popular and I like it. Immediately think of Stevie Nicks.

ShellySarah · 05/10/2023 12:06

she will be going to private school though this makes me think less teasing

That'sreally offensive. The children of rich parents at private school don't tease? Just us common oiks who went to state behave badly?

Stevie is gorgeous. (My nieces name her parents are well known though so she will be going to private school though this makes me think less teasing)

Aria20 · 05/10/2023 12:03

I know 2 x 5 year old girls called stevie at the same school - such a coincidence as it's not a common name. Both are lovely girls though and suit the name.
I also went to school with a female Stevie - she'd be mid 30s now.

NoWordForFluffy · 05/10/2023 12:03

I emailed (and subsequently met) a male Stevie recently. Until I met him, I assumed he was female! So my mind went to Nicks, not Wonder.

I like the nn idea.
