Stevie for a girl??

I have two DCs called Louis and Robyn. My husband is a Robert Louis Stevenson lover (though the names of our DCs are coincidental) and he thinks it would be funny to name our DD (due in November!) Stevie as a funny little homage to his favourite author.
While I have names I prefer, Stevie is growing on me but I don't know how common it is as a girls' name and I don't want her to be bullied.
Also is it ridiculous to have our three children be called Robyn, Louis and Stevie? Seems a bit obvious, so I'm not sure. But since Louis is the eldest they've always been Louis and Robyn rather than Robyn and Louis.

Would love some advice!

No. Even Stevie Nicks's real name isn't Stevie. It's Stephanie. Don't call a girl Stevie FFS. All people will think of is Stevie Wonder! That's where my mind went straight away anyway!

Really? It's Stevie Nicks for me.

KatnissNeverdone · 05/10/2023 16:35

My 36 year old sister is Stevie, named after Stevie Nicks. She's never had a problem being mistaken for a bloke and never been teased for her name.

Holidaynovice · 05/10/2023 16:27

I really like it. My mind went to Stevie from Schitts Creek but she's fab. I like that the 3 names you have have meaning to you. I'd go for it.

Kim82 · 05/10/2023 16:25

My sister is called Stevie (just Stevie, not Stephanie). She’s 37 now and has never been picked on for her name. I really like it!

WereYouListeningToTheDudesStory · 05/10/2023 16:23

I love it!

StEtienne93 · 05/10/2023 16:22

Also, my dd is a state primary and doesn't get teased. What do you know, even poor children can be civilised.

StEtienne93 · 05/10/2023 16:20

I love it, although i am biased, as my daughter is a Stevie. We get many compliments on her name. And yes, I'm a huge Stevie Nicks fan.

Terrribletwos · 05/10/2023 16:01

I know a Stevie who is over 30 years old so not really original.

Arewethebadguys · 05/10/2023 15:57

I know a a Stevie. She's funny, smart and articulate. Go for it!

And? Amazing musician. Your point?

Mangolover123 · 05/10/2023 15:55

I hate faddy names and I often read these boards and put the ridiculousness down to hormones; but I actually really like it. Stevie it has a boho, carefree vibe. Hope she becomes PM!

speenmum · 05/10/2023 15:49

I'm such a fan of this name! Especially because it's linked to my favourite author I'd say ignore the haters and go for it

SM4713 · 05/10/2023 15:47

'Mummy, why did you give me a boys name. Everyone teases me'

'Well Stevie, it was just a funny little homage!!!' 🙄FFS!

What a weird post 😆 and the name ‘Stevie’ is not the kind of name one would give to a child destined attend private school 😂

I know a Stevie at an expensive London day school. Granted her parents are in fashion..

theduchessofspork · 05/10/2023 15:39

I love Stevie actually and that is a funny connection.

I do think you should put Stephanie on the birth cert though, she will likely want the option of a clearly female and full name some of the time.

BasiliskStare · 05/10/2023 15:38

I am with call her Stephanie - which I think is lovely name and she can go by Stevie but she has options. @Longdarkcloud - thank for that I remember listening to the Paul Temple series on Radio 4 extra with Steve .

As for private school no bullying - well it depends on the school doesn't it. Not all private schools are the same - as is no other school.

SecretVictoria · 05/10/2023 15:33

Reminds me of the character in ‘Miranda’ (that’s not a bad thing btw). I always assumed it was a nickname.

Yajebbend · 05/10/2023 12:04

Stevie is gorgeous. (My nieces name her parents are well known though so she will be going to private school though this makes me think less teasing)

What a weird post 😆 and the name ‘Stevie’ is not the kind of name one would give to a child destined attend private school 😂

Ivebeentogeorgia · 05/10/2023 15:29

I knew a Stephanie nn stevie in high school

MamaToABeautifulBoy · 05/10/2023 15:27

Oh no, don’t call your daughter Stevie, it’s so low rent. Okay on Stevie Nicks but that’s about it!

rowantree1997 · 05/10/2023 15:26

Stevie in Schitt's Creek is really cool.

Longdarkcloud · 05/10/2023 15:22

Stephanie is a great name. I don’t like the nn Steph, but Stevie sounds fine.
In the Francis Temple mysteries popular on the radio years ago Paul’s wife’s nn was Steve.
You’re fortunate, OP, that you and your DH are pretty much on the same page!

amiold · 05/10/2023 14:53

Love it!

I think of Stevie nicks. Definitely not stevie wonder 😂 very unlikely that's where people's minds will go I think

shockeditellyou · 05/10/2023 11:57

Any other Saddle Club fans??

Yes! That was my first thought!

I really like Stephanie nn Stevie. Fwiw, I don't know any male Stevies, all the Stephens I know are Stephen, Steven or Steve.
