Help us choose a baby girls name as husband and I can't decide! Love classic, elegant names:
Phoebe
Olive
Aria
Edie

I like Olive and Phoebe

Not keen on Aria at all, it sounds a bit made up?

Few other elegant, pretty name suggestions which you may like:

Fleur
Daphne
Persephone
Evangeline
Lily
Vivienne
Raffaella

Or Nancy, Mabel, June, May, Cora, Violet, Clementine, Iris, Hazel, Pearl, Ivy (don’t think these are all particularly ‘elegant’ sounding but classic and pretty and similar to Olive imo.

Hope you come to a decision soon!

Molkomad · 04/10/2023 19:27

My DD 4 is an Edie. Not a very popular name either - she's just started school and there are no others in her year

Bubblehorizon · 03/10/2023 21:23

I don’t really see how Olive is a good alternative to Olivia. It sounds the same pretty much and will just blend in with all the Olivia’s anyway.
Love love Phoebe and agree it’s the only real classic on the list. Aria and Edie are very trendy and I think Aria particularly will date.

Battytriker · 03/10/2023 21:18

Personally I like Olivia rather than Olive…
Evie rather than Edie
and as a pp suggested Flora could be nice

SunshineAndFizz · 03/10/2023 21:14

Have to agree I wouldn't class these as classic or elegant.

Olive - love it. Nice alternative to the very popular Olivia.

Edie - second favourite. Lovely.

Phoebe - meh.

Aria - I just think of Game of Thrones. So a no from me.

FosterMommy13 · 03/10/2023 21:13

Absolutely LOVE Edie 🩷 Phoebe is a lovely name too with ‘pheebs’ often being used as a cute nickname 😊 I personally don’t like Olive 🫒🤣 but love Olivia 😊
One of my favourites is Grace 😊

Good luck choosing and congratulations 😊

MrsDanversChickenSandwich · 03/10/2023 20:52

To me Olive is such an ugly name so I wouldn't even contemplate that one.

Phoebe is the only real 'classic' name in your list and it's lovely. Edie and Aria are both quite trendy but they're pretty and useable names.

MollyMarples · 03/10/2023 20:47

Phoebe

Firstnamesurname31 · 03/10/2023 20:27

12 Olive’s in a month!! I personally love it, but then clearly so does everyone else!
Aria seems very over used now too - every other celebrity seems to have an Aria so don’t like as much.
Phoebe reminds me of friends. Edie is lovely!

How about Flora, Martha, Iris, Ivy?

Nicola721 · 03/10/2023 20:26

Bottom one sounds like a fabric softener

Manthide · 03/10/2023 19:28

Dd1 is an obs and gynae registrar and she has delivered 12 Olives in the past month! Perhaps keep it for another baby down the line when there are less of them. I like Edie short for Edith out of your list.

Electrictache · 03/10/2023 19:27

Not so keen on Aria but love all the others.
In order of favourite
Olive
Edie
Phoebe

staybyyou · 03/10/2023 19:26

Sorry should've said Edie, we liked Edith with nn Edie

staybyyou · 03/10/2023 19:25

Edith and Olive are my favourites. Edith was my top name if DS had been a DD. I like Phoebe but I'm not very keen on Aria.

Cantchoosename · 03/10/2023 19:21

I like Phoebe the best from your list.

saffy2 · 03/10/2023 19:17

My daughter is Olive and I love it. It’s definitely rising in popularity but we don’t come across any, and I like that. Which is the reason why i chose it over Olivia for those suggesting Olivia. I know about 20 Olivia’s and I don’t like that personally.

Ilovesmesomefriedchicken · 03/10/2023 19:08

It's difficult deciding on a name, I had a list of around 6 names that I loved.
Then waited until a few days after she was born to make the decision.
I love all of the names you listed, especially Olive & Phoebe!
I also adore the names Rosa/Rose/Rosie, Lucille/Lucy, Lilah, Lillia, Charlotte and Camile ❤️

Mamabear487 · 03/10/2023 14:10

LOVE Olive. I wanted it for my girl but OH said no 😭

DangerousAlchemy · 03/10/2023 13:54

My neighbours daughter is Audrey. Love it so much! V classy. Henrietta? (Hetty). Margot?

Gnomegnomegnome · 03/10/2023 09:42

I love Edie and Olive.

peaceinourtime · 03/10/2023 09:37

Olive, Edie or Phoebe, not Aria.

KayEmAy · 02/10/2023 16:56

Personal order of preference:

  1. Olive
  2. Aria
  3. Phoebe

While I ADORE those three, Edie just isn't my favorite (which is a little weird since I also love Eden)

Other ideas I think vibe with this list -

Celeste
Madeleine
Juliet
Daisy
Blair
Tess(a)
Kiara
Thea
Elena
Cassidy
Josie/Josette
Leia
Sarah
Rosalie
Abigail
Gemma
Alix
Felicity
Meg
Bailey

miniaturepixieonacid · 02/10/2023 16:38

Aria is my favourite. I love it.
I also like Edie (though would use Edith on bc) and Phoebe.

I really don't like Olive.

theduchessofspork · 01/10/2023 23:24

I wouldn’t describe any of these as elegant

Phoebe is a classic and popular
Edie would be if you used Edith as a first name - it’s v v popular though
They are both nice.

Aria and Olive couldn’t be called classic really. Aria is quite in right now and Olive is on the rise. I don’t really like either.

BoleynMemories13 · 01/10/2023 20:42

Aria is very modern, seems the total opposite of classic.

I do quite like Edie as a nickname but would call her Edith on the birth certificate to give her more options when she's older. I actually prefer Eden, but not sure that fits the classic criteria.

I find Olive quite harsh. Much prefer Olivia.

That leaves Phoebe, which is lovely.
