unique
/juːˈniːk/

adjective

  1. being the only one of its kind; unlike anything else.

Nothing can be “the most unique”.

What a horrid sneering thread. No matter what you think of these names the kids didn’t choose them.

Also a lot of ‘old wives tales’ going on here……

It’s not sneering, it was rather cute in fact.

I know several Merlins, Clementines, Lauries, Hepzibahs, and Kits. Probably the most unusually-named people I know are Helgi, Japhet and Tiger-Lily.

Winston was my grandads name, I think it was a generational thing post war that's since gone out of fashion.

Is Laurie for a boy or a girl? It makes me think of the character Laurie in "Little Women", but I think it's just a nickname for him.

My friend and his daughter are called Laurie. He is more commonly known as law.

Bohobetty0 · 29/09/2023 21:02

@Streamorwatchlive I haven’t found anyone being horrible, everyone is simply saying the most unique names they have heard. Unique by no means means horrible names and actually has more positive connotations than negative 😊

I'm not sure you know what an old wives' tale means.

Getawaytoblazes · 29/09/2023 21:01

The only name I've heard once only (irl) is Sherlock. Came across it once and never since.

I've met a Blaze as well but she said it was quite common in Australia (she was Australian) so not unique really
