looking for opinions on which of these three choices, middle name not confirmed but could potentially be Evie, Violet, Madison or Bethany. Thanks in advance 😊

"Alexa, please pass me a pencil". "Alexa, play "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star".

Alexandra is a lovely name.

catnipevergreen · 29/09/2023 16:48

My DDs middle name is Alexandra

Longdarkcloud · 29/09/2023 16:38

A relative of mine, now in-her 20’s is called Alexis. Around the time she was born the name became quite popular for girls but I have never met a male Alexis.
I think Alexis is rarely used in this country for boys but is more common inEastern Europe.
I love Alexandria (with so many nn if desired) but if you want a shorter name Alexia or Alexis are lovely

RuthW · 29/09/2023 13:33

I don't think you can use any of those

tedybear · 29/09/2023 13:12

Alexa is beautiful but Amazon have ruined it.

I'd prob go with Alexandria or Alexis.

KirstenBlest · 29/09/2023 12:50

Alexis Madison Surname will sound like an accountancy firm

JamSandle · 29/09/2023 12:38

Alexis

FoodFann · 29/09/2023 12:20

Alexis Madison

Madmax1992 · 29/09/2023 12:16

Alexis x

teenysaladandsniffofarose · 29/09/2023 12:14

Or what about Alicia?

teenysaladandsniffofarose · 29/09/2023 12:14

Alexa is just an Amazon device to me nowBlush

Alexia is pretty though.

KirstenBlest · 29/09/2023 11:42

@muddlingthrou , because it's a man's name that's been used for some women.

muddlingthrou · 29/09/2023 11:16

Alexis is definitely a girl's name, not sure why PPs are insisting it isn't...

Bear2014 · 29/09/2023 10:38

@ReadyForPumpkins Our Alexa at home responds to 'Echo'. It's just other peoples' that's the problem

TidyDancer · 29/09/2023 10:21

I would go with Alexandra as well. By far the most beautiful option.

TotalOverhaul · 29/09/2023 10:17

I'd go for Alexandra.

Alexa is a dated robot.
Alexis is a boy's name.
Alexia means inability to read.

But Alexandra is a beautiful name and she can adapt it to Lexi or Alex or Sacha if she wants.

ReadyForPumpkins · 29/09/2023 10:15

Bear2014 · 29/09/2023 09:57

If you must, definitely Alexandra. We have an Alexander (Alex) and his name does set off smart speakers across the land ;) so beware.

That's interesting. We refer to Alexa as Alex at home if we don't want to set up the smart speakers. Most of the time it's us ranting about the uselessness of Alexa! At least my Alexa doens't answer to Alex.

PerfectMatch · 29/09/2023 10:14

I would go for Alexandra (also because of the smart speaker).

embramum · 29/09/2023 10:13

None of the above - Alexi Madison

Bear2014 · 29/09/2023 09:57

Not Alexa because of the device, not Alexia because it's a condition.
I quite like Alexis but it is a man's name that is sometimes used by women.

Oh I didn't know that (about Alexia).
It just shows it pays to research these names.

Autumnwreaths23 · 29/09/2023 09:52

Yes, that damn smart speaker has a lot to answer for.
It should have been called something obscure that no-one is likely to want to call their child.

The name Alexa (which I like by the way) was just starting to gain popularity in my area, and then it suddenly stopped.

I know a couple of older Alexas who had issues with kids constantly commanding them, but they quickly got bored of it and no-one bothers now the joke has worn thin.
I love Alexia, and the extra syllable should be enough to deter from that.

moonlight1705 · 29/09/2023 09:16

My boss is an Alexis and she likes it but people often think she is a man before meeting her ie over email.

BoohooWoohoo · 29/09/2023 09:15

I would avoid Alexa and Alexia because of Amazon.
Alexis makes me think of Carrington but kids these days wouldn't know that connection so you're more likely to get comments from people who were around in the 80s. I loved Gilmore Girls so Alexis Bledel springs to mind too but I'm not sure if that would be a popular association.
Alexandra is my fave and you could pick a nickname that you liked.

Springduckling · 29/09/2023 09:13

All nice names. Sirie is really nice too
