looking for opinions on which of these three choices, middle name not confirmed but could potentially be Evie, Violet, Madison or Bethany. Thanks in advance 😊

We have an Alexa, who pre-dates the device - am still so pleased we chose it. I’ve always loved the name, it’s beautiful, classy, strong, and now quite rare, thanks to Amazon!

she had literally a couple of ‘Alexa, sing xxx’ jokes in year 1, but nothing after. People have often commented on what a lovely name it is and she loves it because it isn’t common.

Inspired from your list I love ..
Alexandra Eve
Alexia Bethany
Alessia Violet
Alessandra Eve
Alexandria Beth
Sandrine Bethany
Sarah Violette
Sally Madison

None of them all I hear is the kids across the road at weekends shouting Alexa play this or that lol and the other is a boy name

Housenoob · 30/09/2023 00:45

What about Alessa or Alessia instead?

CallieQ · 30/09/2023 00:36

None of those

RobertaFirmino · 30/09/2023 00:09

Do you mean Alexis as in 'Alex-iss' (like Alexis Carrington) or 'Al-exy' (like Alexis MacAllister)?

Bear in mind that if you choose this name, as nice as it is, she's in for a lifetime of mispronunciation.

I agree with PP, consider Alexandra instead. That way, she's got a great range of diminutives.

AuntieStella · 29/09/2023 22:15

Alexis is a boys' name across most of mainland Europe, so I'd cross that one off (unless you're a massive Joan Collins fan)

Alexa is too well known as the device

So that leaves only Alexia

PerfectMatch · 29/09/2023 22:13

The Alexis I know is a boy.

theduchessofspork · 29/09/2023 22:09

Alexis is nice

The other two aren’t usable really

muddlingthrou · 29/09/2023 22:02

@felisha54 - ok, and I know 2x alexises that are women, and?

jolaylasofia · 29/09/2023 20:33

none of them all sound too much like an amazon product

Depresssssion · 29/09/2023 20:31

Alexa is ruined now because of the Amazon device!

OrangesLemonsLimes · 29/09/2023 20:30

What about one of your middle name choices as a first name, with one of these as a middle name?

Like PPs I love Alexandra but I suspect from its absence from your list, that you do not!

YourWinter · 29/09/2023 20:25

None of those, use either the gorgeous classic Alexandra, or Alice or Alicia.

Doobydoo · 29/09/2023 20:23

Here is another meaning.
Origin:Greek. Meaning:man's defender, helper. Alexia is a girl's name of Greek origin. Derived from Alexander, it means "man's defender" or "helper." Alexia has many variations, including Alexis, Alexa, and Lexi.16 May 2023

So many names out there. Definitely avoid top smart device names and dyslexia conditions!!

Doobydoo · 29/09/2023 20:19

I have no idea how Alexia sounds like Alexa...I have a friend called Alexia....I have never thought it sounds like Alexa..she does however have people saying 'oo like the Alexa' urm nope!

felisha54 · 29/09/2023 20:19

@muddlingthrou I know an alexis who is male.

felisha54 · 29/09/2023 20:18

Honestly none. Just reminds me of my Alexa (echo) who never does as we ask. I know 2 older Alexa's who hate their name because of what most people associate it with.

Snugglemonkey · 29/09/2023 20:11

Alexis. The others are ruined. She may well get Lexi,is that OK?

I would go with Alexis Violet.

Daisybuttercup12345 · 29/09/2023 20:06

None! She won't thank you when everyone shouts "Ask Alexa".
Alexandra is nice though.

Headingforholidays · 29/09/2023 20:05

I have taught a couple of Alexias and never heard anyone making fun of it or been told they had a problem from other children so I think that would be fine. Personally I prefer Alexis.

KirstenBlest · 29/09/2023 19:52

@twostraws , it was a man's name for centuries before women started using it.

twostraws · 29/09/2023 17:50

Oh, Alexis is definitely a girl's name!

I can't not hear this:

However, it won't mean anything to the kids of her age, just the parents.

Alexa, on the other hand, that might still be around as the Amazon device.

My favorite Schitt’s Creek resident it-girl is a Lamborghni 🏁, expensive sushi 🍣, and a huge, huge yacht 🛥. There’s no denying that Alexis is little bit ...

I too thought Alexis was a male name. I'd go for Alexandra - lovely name and then you have a range of diminutives to choose from.
