I like it, but being Scottish, can't make it sound nice - Perrul!

Moonwatcher1234 · 25/09/2023 20:48

Lovely name and lovely jewel - I was tempted to name my daughter Lu’lu which is Arabic for pearl but went for another name that had a lot of family meaning in the end. It just makes you smile to think of that gorgeous shining stone doesn’t it?

Lovely and you will be Mother of Pearl 😉

Er. Wink

I know one, early 30s very cool. Great name

bakewellbride · 25/09/2023 20:32

Tampax pearl

Yokaiwatch · 25/09/2023 20:32

As other pp have mentioned, in my area it would be pronounced as ‘peril’. It also reminds me of pearl in SpongeBob SquarePants (which isn’t a bad thing!)

Fleasbane · 25/09/2023 20:30

Very pretty.

Pushkinini · 25/09/2023 20:29

I love it and it definitely needs a revival. The only Pearls I know are in their 80s.

Fleur405 · 25/09/2023 20:28

Really depends on the accent - as someone said above sounds horrible in a Scottish accent!

stayathomer · 25/09/2023 20:27

One of the nicest mums on our road was called Pearl and I’ve come to associate it with warmth and loveliness. Beautiful name!

princessrapunzel · 25/09/2023 20:25

Love it, it was my nannas name and everyone complemented her on her name. In her nursing home they used to call her pearly which is such a cute nick name.

EtiennePalmiere · 25/09/2023 20:07

I like it, if you're a Janis Joplin fan it's particularly special

beachstones · 25/09/2023 19:54

I love it! It was going to be the middle name if I had a daughter.

FairFuming · 25/09/2023 19:52

My 6 year old daughter is obsessed with the name Pearl. When she discovered that her Aunty and Uncle were having a little boy she declared "Pearl is a lovely name for a boy too". So she would certainly approve

YouHoooo · 25/09/2023 19:47

Love it. Also Sapphire which I know divides opinions!

ClaraBean · 25/09/2023 19:24

I have a Pearl. She is 18 and when I asked her if she liked her name she said she loves her name. She loves that she was the only one in school and college. Apparently when she was 12-14ish she wished she was called Evie or Molly so she could blend in more but is now glad she is Pearl!
Hope the opinion of a 'baby' Pearl helps you!

WanderingWitches · 23/09/2023 21:14

It's Mr Crabs daughter on Spongebob to me

Pearl
faban · 23/09/2023 20:53

I love it

user1492757084 · 23/09/2023 11:10

I'm not a great fan of Pearl.
Do you like Fuschia or Colma?

Mairead, Gretal, Margaret, Margot, Lulu, Maggie, Marit,Meg and Margarete,Meghan, Peggy are all names meaning pearl that I prefer more than Pearl.

Pocketfullofdogtreats · 23/09/2023 10:48

I much prefer Pearl to the other suggestions here. I find Megan quite ugly, and Perla sounds like a toothpaste. Emerald is alright but it's nothing like Pearl, is it? Opal is lovely but is it actually a name? Not all gemstones are (Diamond!) and Beryl and Coral are not to my taste. Amber is OK. If we're going for colours, I love Fuchsia!

Loub55 · 23/09/2023 01:01

I've never considered it but I really like it!

doeandfawn · 23/09/2023 00:51

Scottish and LOVE the name Pearl. Really depends on your local dialect.

Angelik · 22/09/2023 21:36

I have one so it's a yes from me!

Iusedtoworkthere · 22/09/2023 21:26

& Dean?

Pearl is a lovely name.

smallshinybutton · 22/09/2023 21:20

Megan means Pearl if that helps.
