Sorrel or similar?

i grew up with a friend whose sister was called Sorrel and I always liked it. Does anyone know any other baby Sorrels ? Considering other flower names but not of the Daisy, Rose vibe.

I think I remember a Sorrel character in a children’s book..

Anyway it’s nice and perfectly useable

Sorrel is nice but a little tricky to say. I knew one a very long time ago who couldn’t say her S’s or R’s…pretty unfortunate and also unlucky as it’s not that common to be unable to do either.

I liked Sorrel a lot. Seren and Aster were two others I liked that I think have a similar vibe.

I've only heard of two, both actors of yesteryear:

Sorrel Dunger played Sarah Jane Harvey in Crossroads in the 70s, where I first noticed the name and thought if very pretty. And Sorrell Brook, who played Boss Hogg in The Dukes of Hazzard. Prefer it for a girl.

the Welsh alternative is 'Ffion'.
Ffion is a welsh name for a foxglove, it's not an alternative other than to 'bysedd y cŵn'.

This has got me thinking about nature names which you don’t ever hear.
Foxglove has a nice ring to it, with the right surname!

I love the name Foxglove, the Welsh alternative is 'Ffion'.
I went to school with someone called 'Hebe'.

@Whataretheodds , I can dislike a name for any reason I like. I wouldn't use the name Lily because I don't like the smell of lilies.
I don't like the name Lauren but that's because of how it sounds. am i bovvered

It's a sour-tasting unattractive edible weed. Red sorrel is pretty in salads.. Laurel is toxic.
If you live in an area where they sound an L as a w sound, it will sound like Sorrow

Laurel may be toxic but it was used to crown winners in Greek and Roman times and gives us the names Laurence and Laura/Lauren/Lauren

Rosemary is fragrant, long lasting and symbolises remembrance.

You don't have to like the look of the plant, they have other properties (I probably wouldn't call a child Hemlock)

Sorrel is flat, green and common. Not particularly nice.

Rosemary is green, spiky and invasive but no reason not to use it as a name?
