What do you think of -

Hazel
Luna
Gwen

Which do you prefer and why? Any thoughts? Other suggestions?

Hazel is timeless and lovely.

Luna went through a revival after Harry Potter/ Luna Lovegood. I agree it seems dated now.

I love Gwen if short for Gwendoline/ Gwendolyn.

CurlewKate · 19/09/2023 15:24

I really don't understand the popularity of Luna! Hazel is incredibly rare and interesting. Gwen sounds as if it needs to be a shortening for something- Gwenivere?

Somanycats · 19/09/2023 15:21

Hazel is great, but I wouldn't use if for a blue eyed child.
Gwen also great, but I would name Gwendoline
Luna is dated already I think

MerryChristmasToYou · 19/09/2023 15:11

They're quite different.
Hazel is nice
Luna is a bit too 'current'
Gwen is nice and short but a bit Welsh (I'm thinking more Gavin & Stacey than Gwen Stefani)

I'd drop the Luna because it blends into all the Lily, Lila, Lyra. Lara, Lucy type names and makes me think of loony.

Other suggestions: Rowan, Willow, Ann, Tess, Jill

Really like Hazel, not overused, nice nature name.

Luna is a dog name now unfortunately.

Gwen is okay. Makes me think Welsh / Spiderman fan.

shakeitoffsis · 19/09/2023 15:02

Hazel is ok, Gwen is terrible and Luna is a dogs name. I prefer Lana.

Hazel I think is lovely.

Luna I think is a name of its time and will feel very dated in a few years. Unfortunately the more I hear it the more I dislike it.

I went to school with a girl called Gwen. I don't mind it but I don't think it's a very 'pretty' name.
