What do you think of this name?

My grandmother was Dorothy, she hated her name therefore we gave DD it as a middle name.

I love it ❤️

Roselilly36 · 19/09/2023 11:37

I only know one Dorothy, she hates her name with a passion and only uses her middle name. Can’t say I blame her.

Katiesaidthat · 19/09/2023 10:49

No, it´s my great aunt´s name, she must be 100 now, it´s an old ladies name. Prefer Dorothea.

Busted2006 · 19/09/2023 06:30

Not for me, I like Dotty but Dorothy isn't for me

PosyPrettyToes · 18/09/2023 22:59

I love it. I know two. One is in her 30s and goes by Theo, and one who is 9 and goes by Dolly.

junebirthdaygirl · 18/09/2023 22:54

Lovely name but l only like Dorrie as a short version. Know a Dorrie and always love her name. In her 30s

Greensleeves · 18/09/2023 22:50

It's gorgeous

SkaneTos · 18/09/2023 22:50

Dorothy is a very pretty name!

Makes me think of Dorothy Gale in "The Wonderful Wizard of Oz" by L. Frank Baum.

Dublincailin · 17/09/2023 08:40

I'm a Dorothea, i absolutely hate Dorothy, my name was shortened and the wizard of oz teasing was horrendous.

I now love my name, but purely because I refuse to answer when called Dorothy.

Be aware though ime it will be spelt wrong regularly and pronounced with an E so spelt and pronounced as Dorethy.

loislovesstewie · 16/09/2023 19:58

As you are asking;no.

Toddlerteaplease · 16/09/2023 19:40

Awful. Even though it was my grandma's name

KirstenBlest · 16/09/2023 19:38

Dot is so sweet!

annahay · 16/09/2023 19:34

My little girls middle name is Dorothy after her late great grandmother. I think it's really sweet.

Unicorn34 · 16/09/2023 19:08

It was my nan's name too - she was called Dolly when she was a child which is pretty but as she got older it was Dot, which isn't so pretty!

stickygotstuck · 16/09/2023 19:05

Very nice name. Coincidentally, I met a lovely 5 year old Dottie yesterday. Suited her.

I don't get this idea that a name can be 'too old'. A name is a name. Some popular names are over 2000 years old and still going strong.

continentallentil · 16/09/2023 19:00

I like Dorothea much better but it’s nice enough.

Dorey, Dorrie, Dot and Dora are all nice short forms

DontGiveMeThatOldCrap · 16/09/2023 18:26

It's too old-lady. I know that some old-fashioned names have made a comeback, but some are not right

DramaAlpaca · 16/09/2023 18:25

Love it! With either Dolly or Dottie as a diminutive.

Don't like Dorothea though.

LovelyBoy2023 · 16/09/2023 18:19

I like it - and Dorothea. Also Dottie (but not Dolly)

anormalperson · 16/09/2023 18:18

Love it. And Dot for a toddler is adorable

Oneearringlost · 16/09/2023 17:41

Dorothy, it has sweetness AND gravitas...

Dolly for short, beautiful. Ahh, you've made me want to start thinking about names all over again. I wish I'd thought of Dorothy. Go for it and never look back.

MissDollyMix · 16/09/2023 17:36

I love it, but I would say that!
