Amy?

What are people’s thoughts on Amy? DH says it’s a little dated and very 80s, 90s. I tend to agree but I think it’s a sweet name and is not popular whilst still being normal and recognisable. What do people think?

The other name we have in mind is Charlotte but I’m not sure if it’s ‘the one’.

Amy is fine as it is. Changing the spelling ruins it.

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 14/09/2023 11:00

My sister is Amy well (Aimee) and I’m still jealous that she got the prettiest name.🤣

Isittimetoretire · 14/09/2023 10:43

I really like it, lovely and timeless. I prefer it to Charlotte. I like Charlotte but it's just a bit boringly obvious and like you just chose the first name you heard.

SallyWD · 14/09/2023 09:21

I really like it. You can't go wrong with Amy.

Oldermum84 · 14/09/2023 09:13

Love it.

Amy is ok
Aimee is much nicer

God, Aimee is hideous.

Snugglemonkey · 14/09/2023 09:01

I hate the moment Amy. It is sickly and twee to me. I know several lovely Amy's, so am not sure where this reaction comes from tbh.

I think Charlotte is lovely.

Hobnobs88 · 14/09/2023 08:06

Thanks everyone, I like it too! It’s always been on my list for a baby girl’s name ❤

No, Amy is nice in its simplicity. Aimee begs the how do I pronounce that question. I did French for years and I would wonder if its aymee aor ammAY.
Just stick to Amy.

Cringe when I see Aimee.

Aria20 · 14/09/2023 07:15

I like Amy it's simple and quite fresh sounding, not a name you hear often now. My best friend growing up was Amy - born in 86.
Amy Charlotte sounds beautiful too.

weeRagamuffin · 14/09/2023 06:41

Yeh but I bet it sounded fresh when you were born

Reading down this thread what everyone thinks of my real name
Amy🤣🤣🤣

Amy106 · 14/09/2023 01:03

Amy is a great name.😁
My real name isn’t Amy by the way.

DramaAlpaca · 14/09/2023 00:54

Amy is lovely. Such a simple, sweet, timeless name that I don't see as dated. I wouldn't define it as classic exactly, but it's gorgeous.

And for the love of god, spell it Amy. No faffing around with fancy pseudo French spellings like Aimee. No need.

I like Charlotte too, but have a preference for short, neat names that can't be messed around with, like Amy.

RoseMartha · 14/09/2023 00:48

I think it is a classic name a bit like Alice or Charlotte or Victoria are.

I like it.

Theoldwoman · 14/09/2023 00:24

Aimee is great, Charlotte is even better!

Smoky1107 · 13/09/2023 23:14

It's a lovely name! ( I have an Amy)

jonnyjanetkeogh · 13/09/2023 23:12

Amy is such a beautiful name. We have an Amy in our family too and she loves her name. It's just a classic, gorgeous name!
Charlotte is lovely but has the royal connotations now which would put me off as it's become so popular now.

LilyLemonade · 13/09/2023 23:08

Like it. Suits all ages. Sweet but also unfussy.

Daisybuttercup12345 · 13/09/2023 22:45

I love Charlotte. Amy is nice though.

WalnutBlue · 13/09/2023 21:46

Amy is quite common where I am but a nice name.
Same for Charlotte.
They are both fairly timeless

Unicorn2022 · 13/09/2023 21:45
