Is Sabrina not classic enough?

I go back and forth on Sabrina, but the past couple of months it has been my favourite.

Now I am worried it is dated? Most Sabrinas would be in the 20s and 30s, I suppose.

On the other hand it is quite old and there are some classic movies that feature Sabrinas.

Other names on the list are more along the lines of Ava and Grace.

Teenage Witch.
Selina?

I’m not sure it came across in my post, but I definitely don’t think the Sabrina the Teenage Witch thing is bad, just it’s definitely what comes to mind.

I don’t think it’s in the cultural consciousness at all for anyone under about 25 I reckon. The new show didn’t seem to become a thing really.

Ava and Grace are nice but so, so ubiquitous. Sabrina won't be the fifth one in her class.

KnobbingtonKnobberson · 10/09/2023 17:59

I love the name Sabrina and far prefer it to Ava or Grace which seem a bit overdone at this stage.

What names are true classics anyway? Anne, Elizabeth, or Catherine? Nothing that wrong with those names as such, but I personally find them frumpy and dull.

Call her Sabrina.

It’s lovely. Heburn was the most beautiful woman and it was one of her key roles. My wedding dress was described as very Audrey Heburn which I took as a huge compliment.

I really like Sabrina and I grew up as a big Sabrina the teenage witch fan, but I feel enough time has past that it could be uses for a child and the association not be relevant.

Much nicer and more interesting than Ava and Grace.

It also means ‘patience’ in Arabic.

I like it (it happens to be DD’s name!)

I think of Audrey Hepburn in Sabrina. It's beautiful. My best friend in High School was a Sabrina who went by Brie.

TracyBeakerSoYeah · 10/09/2023 17:52

Sabrina is a beautiful name & I'd use it

ShowOfHands · 10/09/2023 17:52

I like it and it's a bit different. The world doesn't need another Ava or Grace.

GloomySkies · 10/09/2023 17:51

I also think Teenage Witch, but that's not really a bad thing. It was an Aubrey Hepburn film in the 50s, so it's not a new name. I think it's quite pretty.

HarrietJet · 10/09/2023 17:50

It's nice enough, but no way is it a classic.

Nap1983 · 10/09/2023 17:49

I like it! But I'm too of the Sabrina the teenage witch era. I think its nice and unusual without being crazy

Sprogonthetyne · 10/09/2023 17:48

I also instantly think 'The teenage witch', but other kids won't make that connection and anyone old enough to have grown up watching it will hopefully be polite enough not to say.

Allthegoodnamesarechosen · 10/09/2023 17:47

It’s a very old name, it was Milton’s name for the River Severn in Comus. She was a benevolent and powerful deity….

cherryassam · 10/09/2023 17:46

I like it a lot - my mind does auto-complete with The Teenage Witch after it though, which probably shows my age.
