For a girl?

(I'm not pregnant yet but plan to be soon!)

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
BlackJumpsuit · 09/09/2023 09:35

No, definitely not.

Posy yes.

continentallentil · 09/09/2023 09:34

Jesus Christ woman

You don’t even have hormones as an excuse

Oh, I do like "Sonnet"! Is that a boy or girl?

The one I know is a girl

Marcipex · 08/09/2023 23:45

I like Posy.

Theredfoxfliesatmidnight · 08/09/2023 23:39

Poetry is not good, but how about Posy? (Poesy is the archaic/old fashioned word for poetry)

fettuccini · 08/09/2023 23:36

I quite like Poet as a middle name actually. But I think you need to be a breezy hipster/hippyish type to pull it off.

Doyoumind · 08/09/2023 23:13

No. You could perhaps get away with Poésie.

TigerTERF · 08/09/2023 22:59

SemperIdem · 08/09/2023 22:46

No. Poetry, as beautiful as it can be, is an ugly looking word.

I do know a Sonnet though, which I like.

It's the kind of thing that my teenage self would of loved in a movie or book. But adult me sees how tacky it sounds for an actual person.
Try shouting it as if they've just dropped their heaviest toy on your toe, try calling it as if it's the twelfth time you've called them down for dinner and they still aren't listening, try using it in the sentence, "Poetry will you just get your shoes on and get out to school, it's half past eight!"
And so on, and so forth.
These are realistically the ways you will end up saying your child's name over the years.
And really put the effort into those practice examples!
Consider they're having tantrum number 52738691 and you're in the street, traffic rushing by, people everywhere, child entirely refusing to do as you need them to- now consider how daft you'll feel going, "Poetry get over here now!" etc.
Any name can sound adorable in our imaginary parent brains, but the reality needs a proper name really.

SirChenjins · 08/09/2023 22:50

Love it - but for that added speshulness I’d go with P’oh-Ehtree.

Don’t be daft OP Grin

@TigerTERF it shows no results on the dark greener site which shows the popularity of names from 1996-2021. Just because it’s on a list doesn’t mean anyone has or should use it. You need to remember you’re naming a human being not an accessory. Give them a name they can live with, not a name that makes people think their parents wanted to be unique.

Narrow it down, eg:
Sonnet
Ballad
Elegy

'This Be The Verse' seems very apt at this point...

They fuck you up, your mum and dad.

They may not mean to, but they do.

CherrySocks · 08/09/2023 22:38

Po for short?

Tinky winky, La La, Dipsy…

TigerTERF · 08/09/2023 22:35

As I said, I'm not pregnant yet.

Surely many "words" are also "names"?!? And it is on some of the baby name websites, so someone must have used it?

There’s all sorts of rubbish on most internet baby name sites. They don’t validate stupid choices

TGGreen · 08/09/2023 22:39

So 'try hard.'

Anything could be a name, it doesn't mean it should be a name.

ShellySarah · 08/09/2023 22:35

Harmony is actually a name.

Poetry is just awful.
