Sister name - for Rowan and Joshua

RoRoIvy · 07/09/2023 08:12

5 days away from due date and still no name!
DH is Irish
I am British/ Dutch

currently with 2 boys -
Rowan and Joshua (as in the Joshua Tree)

expecting now a baby girl!!!!

I like Lilian but suspect it’s way too popular and people will think I should just stick with Lily (but we have a young Lily in the family already)

im so tired of hearing the same names like Olivia, Sophia etc. they are beautiful but like Lily, so, so popular now and it takes the magic away.

the classics are always nice but a bit dull at times… (Elizabeth, Charlotte)

old lady names? Edith, Gloria, Sylvia?

M names are not my favorite but keep coming up…
I am so stuck 😭
other options are:

Maisie
Ellory (is it too gender neutral?)
Anne (with middle name Augusta)?
Marian
Melody
Bellamie
Liana
Bryony

Thanks for helping.

The baby was due in SEPTEMBER folks...

sprigatito · 09/01/2024 19:30

If you like Ellory and Melody, would you consider Elodie?

Dinodrivingacar · 09/01/2024 19:28

I think willow would be perfect, fits the tree theme and has the w sounds as do the other 2 names!!

Uricon2 · 09/01/2024 19:23

Emily/Emilia

I love Iris too but it doesn’t go well with our family name.
Hazel is nice, just worried it’s too obvious as a tree name and kind of matchy- matchy with the boys…
Thanks for responding!

If you’ve gone for tree names with 2 you might as well make it a hat trick or at least a plant name:

Hazel
Willow
Calluna
Juniper
Delphine
Lilac
Violet
Jasmine
Fearne
Sylvia
Laurel
Olive
Savannah

I have a Rowan as well and all the names we have picked out for DC2 are nature based too :)

MichaelAndEagle · 09/01/2024 19:11

Louisa
Eliza or
Laura?

HoHoHoliday · 09/01/2024 19:06

With Rowan and Joshua I think it would be lovely to choose a tree-matchy name to go with them. Because although the names are both trees, they are also commonly used names, so it won't sound like you are landscaping a garden.

Some suggestions:
Acacia
Aster
Briar
Fern
Flora
Hazel
Holly
Jasmine
Laurel
Marigold
Violet

FrostieBoabby · 09/01/2024 18:37

Jillian /Jilly?

LetMeDream · 09/01/2024 17:41

Gillian
Heidi
Grace
Vivienne
Jasmine

Newsenmum · 09/01/2024 17:35

Beatrix? Classic but less common than Beatrice.

Newsenmum · 09/01/2024 17:35

Clementine
Zinnia
Dahlia
Summer

Newsenmum · 09/01/2024 17:34

If you really like Lillian then I think you should go for it. You don’t have to call her Lily all the time - Lillian is her name.

AngelaBB · 09/01/2024 17:31

Hazel is lovely, I also love Violet.

Doublebiscuit77 · 09/01/2024 17:21

I love Marian! Lilian is nice too.

Other ideas:
Rowan, Joshua and Antonia
Rowan, Joshua and Imogen
Rowan, Joshua and Caroline (Carrie)
Rowan, Joshua and Emmeline
Rowan, Joshua and Clementine
Rowan, Joshua and Felicity
Rowan, Joshua and Vivian
Rowan, Joshua and Miriam
Rowan, Joshua and Leah

gregtile · 08/01/2024 23:05

Bethany, Harriet, Clara

CornyCaleb · 08/01/2024 22:16

Sylvie means woods/forest so fits in with Rowan and Joshua but not in an obvious way.
Love Lillian as well.

PieAndLattes · 08/01/2024 21:57

If you’re going for a tree theme then Willow is perfect and beautiful. If not, it sounds like you have a preference for strong, classical, names so one of the following might work:

Catherine
Helen
Julia
Anna
Elizabeth
Ruth
Alice
Frances
Imelda
Rachel
Laura

SOSWhen · 08/09/2023 11:20

Rowan, Joshua and Violet
Rowan, Joshua and Georgia

I like Juliet from your list and Annie not Anne.

Thanks for all the suggestions!
Bryony seems to have mixed reviews…
Juliette is lovely.
Theresa and Harriet also great.

I guess I’m narrowing it down!!! still options then…
