Hello, everyone so I’ve narrowed down my list to these five after my last post. Now which one would you choose from my list and why? They’re all my favorite so it’s a bit difficult to decide. My partner loves Eva and I prefer other names. I’m leaning more towards Nina and Clara though.

Clara
Eva
Hannah
Lara
Nina

Obviously I like short names that end in ‘a’

Clara - don't like it. It's the 'Cl' bit, makes me think of clumsy, clown, clod etc
Eva - don't like it, so many Evie and Avas
Hannah - like it
Lara - ok, much nicer than Clara
Nina - it's fine. I disagree with the pp who said it's a baby's name

17caterpillars1mouse · 07/09/2023 10:35

Clara

Liv999 · 07/09/2023 10:14

Clara 100%, the rest are a bit meh

Update: Hello everyone, Me and my DH have decided that we’ll just wait until baby is born to pick the name to see which name best suits her. I think that’s the wise thing to do as our minds might change when she’s born. DH has decided on Eva and I’ve decided on Nina as it’s his second favorite on my list. However Don’t hesitate to continue commenting your opinions, we would like continue exploring our options. Thank you all so much for your help. - OP 💜

Nina is fabulous. The only one I've known was my boss, who was (still is) a total inspiration. To me Nina is a strong and competent leader. Not remotely babyish.
Clara makes me panic as I know several and they pronounce it differently.

Mangolover123 · 07/09/2023 09:30

Hannah - I love, I think it is a under used name but so pretty without being too fluffy

Nina- I like it, I wouldn't say it is only a baby name, I think it works for a strong woman as well.

Jennalong · 07/09/2023 09:28

Hannah just for the fact it's a palindrome , and that makes it a cool name in my world !

uncomfortablydumb53 · 07/09/2023 09:24

Hannah
Clara a close second

Hrttttt · 07/09/2023 08:51

Nina! Love that name.

cptartapp · 07/09/2023 08:28

Lara.
Clara is clunky. Cara or Zara are nicer than both.

heartsinvisiblefury · 07/09/2023 08:23

Clara - timeless

Nina is a baby name, not an adult name, don't use that one

Nina Simone?

FettleOfKish · 07/09/2023 07:34

I've only ever known two Nina's and they're both Women in their 50s Grin

Clara is a nickname for a Claire, or a cartoon cow, in my head.

I like Eva. I've only know one and she's one of my favourite people.

I know adult ninas too, but hate saying the name and wonder why they are using a baby nickname instead of presumably whatever their actual name is.

@BeingATwatItsABingThing are you pronouncing Clara like Claw-ra or Clare-uh? Because I know that some people pronounce Cara 2 different ways, Care-uh and Car-uh. But I like Claire-uh.

Oh I'm pronouncing it "Clah-rah" but I do know a "Clay-rah" as well. She did spend our entire secondary school experience correcting teachers on the pronunciation though.

Hogwash. I've worked with multiple adult Ninas over the years and never thought they had a baby name.

I agree - Clara or Nina.

Clara, Eva and Lara were all on my list for DD.

Clara is my favourite, love Lara but it's a bit of a 'nothing' name and Eva is very popular.

BeingATwatItsABingThing · 07/09/2023 07:36

Eva or Nina

I love the name Cara but adding in the L ruins it for more and gives it a horrible sound. Hannah is also ok but I find it a bit boring. Really don’t like Lara.

SneezyEvie · 07/09/2023 07:35

Clara! ☺️

Second choice would be Lara (I obviously like that sound).

Mumofgirls2017 · 07/09/2023 07:31

Clara is beautiful!

Sleepnplay · 07/09/2023 07:31

Nina would be my choice also, by quite some way. I think it's a great name for a child and adult and don't think it's babyish at all.

Next choices would be Hannah, then Eva, although the masses of Eva/Evie/Eve/Ava/Evelyn's would put me off, it's still a lovely name imo.

Lara and Clara I'm not so keen on, for some reason I don't really like the 'Lah' sound.

Piggysmalls22 · 07/09/2023 07:30

I’ve recently met 2 baby Nina’s & a baby Clara! All 3 super cute and fit them well.

My favourite is Clara, then Nina and lastly Lara.

WineIsMyCarb · 07/09/2023 07:11

Vote here for Nina. Shortlist Nina and one of your husband's choosing and see what she come out looking like

wizzler · 07/09/2023 06:37

Hannah. Never met a Hannah who wasn't lovely
