I like both full versions, but prefer the shortening Joe to Josh!

I don't think you can go wrong with either though, both classic names of similar popularity these days (I know Joshua was ridiculously popular in the 00s but it's much less so now), both with nickname potential etc. Perhaps wait and see which one suits him best?

I absolutely hate Joe or Joey, which are inevitable with Joseph, so although I like the full name the nicknames are off putting.

I prefer the shortening of Josh to Joe. But I prefer the longer name Joseph to Joshua. Unhelpful I know! But I'd prob go with Joshua overall.
