Joseph - beautiful name

peaceinourtime · 10/10/2023 10:42

Joseph for sure. It’s a great name with lots of nickname potential, JoJo is really nice. I’ve never liked the name Joshua/Josh. In fact I’ve only known one would would be in his 40s now who uses the whole name.

Joseph

Joseph

My son is Joshua and as he's got older we call him Josh so I love the name. I also love Joseph but didn't choose it as my name is Jo and didn't want two Jo/Joes!

MillenialAvocado · 03/09/2023 22:33

Joseph (DS is a Joseph) but like Joshua too

uncomfortablydumb53 · 03/09/2023 22:33

Both nice names but I'd choose Joshua

Amwondering69 · 03/09/2023 22:31

My son is a 28 year old Josh and we have never actually met another Josh . He is awesome and a lovely inside and out. He is stupidly intelligent and an ecologist.

HoliHormonalTigerLillyTheSecond · 03/09/2023 22:30

Hmmm I'd go Jake or Jack over both.

TheFormidableMrsC · 03/09/2023 22:27

I've got a Joseph. I don't shorten it.

Wonkypumpkin · 03/09/2023 22:04

Joseph, my son’s middle name, chosen after his Great Grandad “Joe” - Love the name.

Joshua I really dislike.

specialk9 · 03/09/2023 21:59

Oh I absolutely adore both of these names ! They were on the list for my boys but I don't like Josh or Joe and just know they would get shortened in time !

If I had to pick one, I'd choose Joseph.

ZoyaTheDestroyer · 03/09/2023 21:36

Joseph.

They were both done to death at the turn of the century but because Joseph had been consistently fairly popular until then it feels classic. Despite being a very old name Joshua was fairly unusual before the 90s and it therefore feels a bit more dated.

Xanadu58 · 03/09/2023 13:43

Joseph

fourelementary · 03/09/2023 13:38

Joel is lovely or Joseph as Joe is nice. Not Joshua- very dated imo.

ThePoshUns · 03/09/2023 13:36

Joseph
I can't say Joshua unless I'm Rachel from Friends annunciation

user1492757084 · 03/09/2023 13:35

Joseph and Joe.
Joshua never grows up. It's a Peter Pan name to me.

faban · 03/09/2023 13:11

All the Josh's I know are so whingy and just general wet blankets. I love the name Joseph/Joe/Joey and they're all great kids/guys

FrogletandMe · 03/09/2023 13:10

Joseph. I also like Joel.

SiouxsieSiouxStiletto · 03/09/2023 09:14

I prefer Joseph. There were a lot of Joshua's born early 2000s and I think it's slightly dated now.

Can I add Josiah to the mix?

Me too! Joshua I'd always loved but unfortunately his Dad didn't so Joseph was the compromise name. Thankfully when I gave birth and he went to phone his Mum she didn't like Joseph and preferred Joshua. Being a Mummies boy he then agreed to call our son Joshua. Only decent thing his Mum's ever done 😂😂😂😂.

I loved Joshua, Jayden was in the mix too for us those were out 3 top names, I liked Jayden but my ex partner wasn't such a fan (funnily enough his newest son with OW is called Jayden 🤣). My son was born on my uncles birthday who had passed just before I found out I was pregnant & he was Joe so it felt right to use Joseph & in the end we both loved it & it really suits him, I couldn't imagine him being a Joshua now.

mrwalkensir · 02/09/2023 22:56

Both are great - plenty of options for shortened version etc. I have a Josh and he is a complete brick.

Hazelnut9 · 02/09/2023 22:42

I vote Joseph. But Joshua is also lovely.

Whatsthepoint1234 · 02/09/2023 22:41

Joseph - Joshua seems a bit dated. Lots of Joshua’s/Josh’s in their late teens/early twenties.
