How would you spell this name?

We would like it to be pronounced yas-MEEN:

Yasmin
Yasmeen
Yasmine

other?

We are thinking Kiera Yasmine. We also like Holly Yasmine, but might be too botanical. Ruby Yasmine and Lyra Yasmine. I also like Poppy Yasmine, but there is the botanical thing again.

Is it weird to use it as a middle name with my name being Jasmine? I like that there is a connection, but it's not exactly the same.

Yasmine - that’s your name and it’s the nicest spelling by far. It’s a middle name so will only be said out loud by people who know how it’s said.

I like Kiera best of all your first name options, although do prefer the original Ciara spelling.

peaceinourtime · 31/08/2023 21:09

Yasmin definitely. I knew one who is Turkish. Use the e on the end if you must. Don’t spell it Yasmeen it looks made up and you can’t pronounce it so you need to spell it the way it’s pronounced to help.

ZoyaTheDestroyer · 31/08/2023 19:58

Kira is a very pretty spelling it that’s an option?

It doesn’t really matter how you spell the middle name. It will almost never be said aloud so choose the spelling you prefer the look of.

JanesBlond · 31/08/2023 18:38

Yasmeen. And yes it’s a bit weird if your name is Jasmine imo. Either give the same name or à completely different one.

@jasminesunflower , you don't seem to understand what gaslighting means.

I do.

I will kindly ask you to leave again. Your future messages will be ignored from now on.

I didn't judge, @jasminesunflower , I expressed an opinion, yet you judged me.

No, that's 100% not what happened. Please stop gaslighting me and I would appreciate it if you didn't comment on my threads anymore.

@jasminesunflower , why would you?

There is a reason why anglicising Irish, Scottish and Welsh is not viewed favourably by some people with those nationalities.

We are not using it as an anglicisation of an Irish name, but as a variant of Kira, which is popular in my husband's home country and a completely unrelated name. You could have asked, but you decided to judge.

CurlewKate · 31/08/2023 16:35

Why do you want it pronounced like that?

VaddaABeetch · 31/08/2023 14:14

Please spell Ciara correctly.

I didn't ask for opinions on Kiera in this thread. You've made your opinion more than clear. Please stop repeating it over and over again.

How do you know that I'm not using Kiera as a variant of Kira? Why would the original have to be Ciara?

Yasmeen to get the pronunciation you want. It’s a normal spelling, along with Yasmin, back to the name’s roots. I’d say Yasmine looks a bit odd. I don’t know what people mean by “prettier”.

VaddaABeetch · 31/08/2023 14:44

@DuchessOfSausage Kiera is specifically mentioned in OP post!

Yasmin, because I automatically think of Yasmin Le Bon.

I’d also pronounce slightly differently.
Yasmin - Yaz Min, - shorter Min sound, Min to rhyme with Tin
Yasmeen - Yaz - Meen, - with a longer ee sound, Meen to rhyme with Seen
Yasmine - more like Yasmin,

VaddaABeetch · 31/08/2023 14:14

Please spell Ciara correctly.

StampOnTheGround · 31/08/2023 14:12

Yasmeen to get the pronunciation you want but it is uglier looking than Yasmine - it's a middle name so I wouldn't worry too much.

Jasmine Yasmine sounds a bit silly to me.

Pickingnamesishard · 31/08/2023 14:09

Yasmeen. Like 90s supermodel Yasmeen Ghauri . Everyone gets her name right. Now with Yasmin/e, it’ll definitely be pronounced Yas-min the majority of the time.

DuchessOfSausage · 31/08/2023 13:02

Yasmeen, or use Yasmina

Whatsthepoint1234 · 31/08/2023 13:02

Yasmeen

TenThousandSpoons · 31/08/2023 12:52

Yasmine because it looks prettiest and then matches your Jasmine perfectly.
