Identical twin boys

Dramatic · 28/08/2023 23:04

We have recently found out we have identical twin boys on the way. We already have 2 girls

Emmie Francesca
Meredith Rose

I like the idea of both names starting with the same letter but I'm not averse to different letters. Our surname is one syllable and starts with a C.

Any ideas very welcome!

DON'T give them names starting with the same letter. My in-laws thought that would be clever, and the dad had the same initial too - three people all "X-surname" at the same address is very confusing. Even now there are still a few companies where my hubby and his dad get each others mail, because the company has got in a right muddle that X-surname both still lives at address 1 (Dad at original family home) and at address 2 (son at HIS marital home) and my hubby basically moved out 20 years ago! (Number 3 was a girl and took HER hubby's name, otherwise I'm sure she would be in the mess too!)

So I may be a little different then the rest, regarding the first initials. I think you should pick your two favorite names, if they are different great, if they are the same great.

I had fun with both! haha

Bellamy Ryan
Quentin James

Neil Hawthorne
Conrad Evan

Penn Lucas (love on it's own or as a nickname for Spencer)
Perry Elliot

Clark Harrison
Lance Carter

Rory Mason
Clay William

Stefan Micah
Alexander Hale

Adam Harley
August Emerson

Davis Maxwell
Christopher Rhys

Griffin Thomas
Henry Milo

Casey Holden
Taylor Gideon

Blaine Oliver nn Bo if he likes
Brandon Sterling

Fitz Charles
Grayson Daniel

Ian Wesley
Jay Dalton

Jordan Everett
Asher Donovan

(Archie) Archer Liam
(Mack) Malcolm Scott

Not sure how you feel about alliteration or single syllables first/last names but I love both, always have thought they were so cool and book like. If that's a deal breaker just skip over those haha

Hummingbird10 · 30/08/2023 23:29

Barney and Kit..

SarahBelles86 · 30/08/2023 22:33

I would choose boys names begining with an E and an M to match your girls, eg. Edward and Matthew

StartupRepair · 29/08/2023 00:28

I wouldn't start them with the same letter. That will be one more way for people to confuse them. I would choose names with really different sounds like:
Hugo and William
Oliver and Benjamin
Lucas and Michael
Sebastian and Thomas

Use the names as a way to strongly differentiate them.

This
Every letter/report/email/ school book or piece of work etc will need checking - which twin is it for.

I have B/G twins and the have very different names (think Emily & Harry)

I particularly hate it when twins are essentially given the same name; we have come across a Daniel & Danielle and a Gabriel & Gabrielle

You have traditional but modern names for your girls (me too) …. to fit in with your girls names , here’s a few suggestions.

Heath, Hugo, William, Edward (Ted), Eddison, Anderson, Charlton (Charlie), Christian, Drew, George, Sidney, Jack, Albert (Albie), Francis

if you do go with the same initial for forename, just put it with a different initial with second name to make things easier (that’s what I did with my girls)

ie

Heath Francis and
Hugo George

good luck!

Whichwhatnow · 30/08/2023 09:09

Ned is a great name too (I know a very cool little Ned)

Whichwhatnow · 30/08/2023 09:07

Your girls literally have my four favourite names 😆

I love Elliott for a boy. Maybe Elliott and Isaac? Or Oisin if you have any Irish heritage. Similar sounds but not too matchy!

StartupRepair · 30/08/2023 08:59

As the twins grow up almost every single person they interact with will be thinking -or saying- now which one are you? Please give them really different names as a small aid here.

Don’t do the same letter- the bank mixed mine up just with the same surname, address and date of birth! We did firstborn had a letter later in the alphabet than the second born. And alternate which you say or write first so they aren’t always x and y. Also “the boys” is much better than “the twins” so they aren’t always half of a set. And don’t dress them the same!!

This!

I work in a school with twins who have names starting with the same letter - it's just adding another layer of impossibility when it comes to staff attempting to call them by the correct name.

JellyTipisthebest · 30/08/2023 06:16

Make sure no one in your house has the same initials, it's so confusing,

InSpainTheRain · 29/08/2023 22:39

Mum of identical twin DS. Differentiate them as much as possible is my advice. Same letter is another way ppl will get confused.

NorwayLass · 29/08/2023 22:18

Rory and Tobias

NorwayLass · 29/08/2023 22:18

Gus and Otis

ALittleDropOfRain · 29/08/2023 22:13

Caleb and Blake. Near anagrams.

Tanyara1981 · 29/08/2023 20:52

Definitely avoid same initial or rhyming...
But how about same/similar meanings or parts of a traditionally longer name
I've known twins called lizzie & Beth / Ella & Nora.. I know they're girls but you get the jist!

KirstenBlest · 29/08/2023 19:27

@DottyDop , there was a tendency when I was at school to refer to a twin as Sarah-twin and Steve-twin, Paul-twin and Darren-twin or Sarah-twin and Claire-twin (substitute name as appropriate).
Although it marked them as special, I'm not sure if they liked it.

I only know one set of twins with matching names - something like Nathan and Natasha, the Nats, and they were Nathan-Nat and Natasha-Nat.

All the others have names that are similar but not matching.
