Triplets !!

countingtotrois · 28/08/2023 21:10

DH and I are expecting triplets after trying for a baby for 4 years and fertility treatments.
We found out last week 2 are boys and 1 girl.
We have been waiting for this for what feels like forever and are over the moon.

We like simple names, classic and timeless, but are now really struggling to pick 3 names. It doesn't help that because the names we like are so popular lots are already in the family so not useable like Daniel or Sophie

For baby boys we like

  • James
  • Joshua
  • Jack
  • Sam
  • Adam
  • Liam
  • Thomas
  • Matthew
  • William

For baby girl we like

  • Emma
  • Katie
  • Lucy
  • Anna

DH loves Sam. Liam and Katie

I prefer Adam, Emma & Liam

Middle names we are hoping to use a variation of our names and our parents names which are

  • Victoria
  • Jane
  • Paula - Paul?
  • Jonathan
  • Michael
  • James

So probably

  • ..... Victoria Jane
  • ..... Jonathan Paul
  • ..... Michael James

Our surname is 1 syllable and starts with S

Which combo do you like best?

Congratulations! So exciting! I honestly like both of your lists! Especially love Sam as a stand alone name!:)

I think it's sweet you want to honor all your parents, if you're not thrilled about all the names maybe you could do one from each set? Or explore maiden names? Also worth noting, but if they all have his last name...that counts haha

Played around with the middle names, and through a few wildcards in their just in case :)

Other sets you may like:

Adam Jonathan Paul
Belle Victoria Jane
Clark Michael James

Holden James
Grant Michael
Daisy Jane

Emmett Cole
Roman Ezra
Jennifer Jane nn Jenny or JJ if she likes

Sam William
Jay Matthew
Brooke Victoria

Sean Michael Paul
Nick Jonathan James
Thea Jane Victoria

(seems matchy but they all start with a different C sound)
Charlie Adam
Celeste Katie
Clay Thomas

Jesse Cameron
Wells Alexander
Eden Victoria

Jason Eric

Reid Ryan
Abby Sloane

Quentin James
Spencer Jonathan
Lara Jane

Alec Logan
Finn Casey
Kelly Anna

Evan Jeremy Paul
Jack Mason Michael
Demi Rose Victoria

Brandon Parker James
Elliot Noah Paul
Whitney Eve Victoria

Perry Michael James
Jude Jonathan Paul
Tess Victoria Jane

Neil Hawthorne
Ryan Bellamy
Stella Maeve

Davis Michael
Ben Victor
Anna James

I spent entirely too long and had entirely too much fun with this! haha

BinkyBeaufort · 30/08/2023 22:38

Adam James
Thomas Michael
Lucy Victoria

catherinewales · 30/08/2023 21:57

My daughter has the exact same name as an old page 3 model. Whenever we go anywhere and her name gets shouted people look around expecting to see this model and my toddler is just toddling through with no care for what people are looking at 😂. The name means so much to me and my dh that it doesn't matter who else has the same name. Congratulations how amazing to have triplets xx

TinyRebel · 30/08/2023 21:51

I’m no help on the names (I think they’re all lovely, classic and great in any combination) but congratulations!
Incidentally, one of my Italian students had triplets and his wife was entitled to three lots of maternity leaves that she took back to back - how awesome would that be for multiples in this country?!

popcorntimee · 30/08/2023 21:48

Thomas, Jack, Lucy

Allsizes8to14 · 30/08/2023 21:46

Try saying James stone….it’s tricky!

Allsizes8to14 · 30/08/2023 21:45

Both mine and DHs names end S and our surname begins with S. It does make our first and second names run together and difficult to say so I’d say try and avoid this!

RiaOverTheRainbow · 30/08/2023 21:40

You both have Liam on your preferred lists, so that's one. Anna is lovely and very close to Emma, and I'd give them all 2 syllable names, so:

Anna Victoria Jane Stone
Liam Michael James Stone
Matthew Jonathan Paul Stone

Shoelaces7 · 30/08/2023 21:13

Joshua Stone
Liam Stone
Katie Stone

Joshua, Liam and Katie

Or Adam Stone also works.

The rest don't work with your surname in my opinion, they are too abrupt. (Matthew would be Matt Stone, Thomas would be Tom Stone). Anna sounds like and a Stone in my accent.

ButtonMoonBlanketSky · 29/08/2023 21:20

Congratulations!

Joshua Liam, Thomas James and Kathryn (Katy) Emma.

I think you've got some lovely names so I would use them for middle names as well. Otherwise does Paula really want to be turned into Paul and will the triplet that doesn't have mum or dads name feel a bit left out???

Congrats!!!

Others have said Emma may be out but I think Emma Stone is fine. Or you could use Emma as a middle name.
I really like Adam, Matthew, Katie.

Katie Jane Victoria Stone
Matthew Jonathan James Stone
Adam James (would say Michael but then that's James Michael so probs something else) Stone

As stand alone names I like Katie, Matthew, Adam, Jane and Anna best.

user1492757084 · 29/08/2023 09:29

All nice names. I would play about with the order of the 2nd names.
My preferred names off your list ..

Emma Jane Victoria Stone
or
Katie Jane Victoria Stone

William James Michael Stone

and
Sam Jonathan Paul Stone
or
Thomas Paul Jonathan Stone
or
Adam Paul Jonathan Stone

Suggested combinations are ..

Emma, William and Sam
Emma, William and Thomas
Emma, William and Adam
Katie, Wiliam and Sam
Katie, William and Thomas - my fave
Katie, William and Adam

Coral12345 · 29/08/2023 07:07

Oh and congratulations

Coral12345 · 29/08/2023 07:07

Emma Jane & Katie Jane are cute.
As is Anna Jane
clearly I like the Jane for a middle lol. But it rings so cute :)

SiouxsieSiouxStiletto · 29/08/2023 06:51

Defo not Sam Stone. Some alliterations work well but I’m not sure that’s one of them

We didn't know the family name when the OP suggested Sam. I'm not a great fan of alliteration at all although some people really like it.

If it was me choosing from your list I'd probably go for:

James Joshua

Thomas William

Lucy Victoria

NailyDale · 29/08/2023 00:46

Ooooh, If I was having triplets I'd call them:

Gilbert Joshua Charles (Gil)
Ronald Isaac Frank (Ron)
Magnolia Freda Selene (Noa)

Jeelypieces20storeys · 29/08/2023 00:33

I wouldn't go for Sam and Emma together.

I'd go for Emma Jane Victoria
Adam Jonathan
James Michael

Congratulations!

D0RA · 28/08/2023 23:37

You could run with the theme of you own first name @countingtotrois and go with some of these royals names from Queen Victoria’s children.

Arthur
William
Patrick
Edward

Alice
Helena
Louise/a
Beatrice
Mary
Caroline

Most work well with your selection of middle names, although some are not great with your surname, esp Beatrice and Alice ( S sounds too close together ).

Also works with other current royal names like Margarita, Alexandra, Catherine.

Tadpolle · 28/08/2023 23:17

Peter, Seth and Nell Stone

ciakace · 28/08/2023 23:15

Like Katie Victoria Jane, Joshua Michael James & Sam/Samuel Jonathan Paul

Montyman1 · 28/08/2023 23:13

James, Matthew and Lucy look good together for me!

D0RA · 28/08/2023 23:12

Defo not Sam Stone. Some alliterations work well but I’m not sure that’s one of them.

With a one syllable surname I’d choose a polysyllabic first name. I know you have longer middle names but they are not often used in RL.

Id also avoid too many similar sounds in both first and surnames eg Charlotte Stone, Margo Stone Tom Stone . Too many os and ts .

I like Alexander or Alexandra , Catherine, Henry, Miles ( from the names suggested so far ) .

ilovepixie · 28/08/2023 23:10

I've not heard of Emma stone but Michael Stone is a pretty notorious name and I wouldn't really use it for a child.

continentallentil · 28/08/2023 23:03

I wouldn’t worry about Emma Stone personally, it’s such a popular name, she’s not THAT famous, and by the time your daughter is old enough to care she’ll have faded away.

Emma Victoria Jane
Samuel Michael James
Matthew Jonathan Paul

Liam isn’t classic compared to the rest and is a but low rent (sorry) and Adam while nice sounds a bit too close to Sam.

I think all of your other boys names are nice, but Matthew and Joshua are the least used. I’d avoid Jack, William and James because they are very overdone right now.

If you ditch Emma, Katie is sweet but I’d go for the elegant Katherine as a full name as she may like that when she’s older. Anna is also lovely. Lucy is nice but a bit twee.

Ýsette · 28/08/2023 23:01

Just not Thomas, Victoria and Harry as they will be Tom Vic and Harry
