Grace?

Jomummy1013 · 27/08/2023 23:42

I have found out today I am expecting a baby girl! I know Grace is done to death but I adore it. My three children (2 girls, one boy) all have classic and timeless (some may say boring!) names. All their names are in the top 20.
I want to call her Grace Francesca. Francesca is a name her father likes.
Any other suggestions welcome!

I have a 4 year old Francesca, and we call her Frankie for short 🥰
Grace was our 2nd favourite name when I was pregnant!

ChocolateCinderToffee · 06/09/2023 22:20

I used to know a Graciela. It’s the Spanish version I think.

purplecheesecat · 06/09/2023 22:17

Lovely classic name, definitely go for it.

neverenoughwine · 30/08/2023 08:00

I love it the other way around Francesca Grace

Jomummy1013 · 29/08/2023 21:40

I'm not with the baby's dad. But before things went wrong he mentioned to me that he loves the name Francesca. I'm so happy others think it's pretty x

I don't think I've ever met a Francesca or a Frances?? X

Grace is beautiful ❤️

Nursemumma92 · 29/08/2023 20:55

I love it and have a 5 year old Grace, no others that we have met with the same name, despite people saying it has been done to death.

continentallentil · 29/08/2023 20:53

I don’t think it’s been that overdone as a first name - just as a middle name.

Grace Francesca is a very pretty combination.

However I admit it makes me slightly think of grease which puts me off.

You can tell your sis that Francesca is v popular right and Frances seems to be on the rise.

How about Frances Grace by the way? I love Frances, it’s so elegant and underused but everyone knows it

Lois, Katharine nn Kate, Caroline, Claudia and Susannah are other underused classics. Also maybe Serena - that one seems to be on the rise.

bakewellbride · 28/08/2023 17:38

@Theoldwoman I'm like you! I have a charlotte, it's a beautiful name.

BCBird · 28/08/2023 15:07

Lovely

Theoldwoman · 28/08/2023 15:01

I love classical names.

I love Grace and Francesca. Great choices.

My DC all have names in the top ten and I don’t care one bit.

If you don’t pick the names you want , you may regret it.

Others I love:

Alice
Juliet
Zara
Ella
Charlotte
Kate
Lucille
Laura
Olive
Frances
Genevieve

I have actually always loved the name Jenna too! Xx

It’s such a pretty name, not the kind of name that raises eyes or makes people think wtf but a classic that isn’t overused!

Chanhedforthis · 28/08/2023 12:17

I have a 2 year old Grace so obviously love it! Never met another one the same age as DD, all seem to ge age 9+.

FayCarew · 28/08/2023 12:14

@Snugglemonkey , the stats say otherwise. Babies called Grace in England & Wales since 1996 (darkgreener.com)

bakewellbride · 28/08/2023 10:11

I love it and it's beautiful but to me personally it's a bit of a gamble name. If the child isn't graceful she really isn't going to suit the name at all.

BoleynMemories13 · 28/08/2023 10:08

Well if your other children all have classic, popular names I'd say Grace sounds like the perfect choice to go with them.

BeaLola · 28/08/2023 09:46

Love it - go for it. I'm mid 50s and know no one called Grace either adult or child .

Whatsthepoint1234 · 27/08/2023 23:51

I like Grace, both my ds’s have ‘boring’ names but they will never have to worry about mispronounciation or spelling their names out. If you want a slightly less popular name what about:
Flora
Jenna
Clara
Susie
Joan
Molly

I have actually always loved the name Jenna too! Xx

Thank you all. I do like Francesca as a first name but not keen on the shortening Fran. I am glad that Grace Francesca has a mostly good view, but my sister middle name is Frances and she hates it, I can imagine her saying wtf for my middle name choice! XxGrin

The sound of the name Grace is so ugly despite its pretty meaning. Sounds like scraping across a dirty floor.

Have to say this made me laugh 😃 xx

@EinyLinky

Who uses their middle names though?

Francesca is a much nicer name

I think Grace is far better 😂
