Will Robin (f) be bullied?

We are expecting a little girl and have always loved the name Robin (spelt with an I not Y) but have started to have doubts and not sure if it’s the hormones or not!

Would she be submitted to a lifetime of ‘where’s Batman’ and ‘red breast’ jokes?

We both love the name but don’t want to set her up for a lifetime of bullying. Am I over thinking this?!

I've always understood that Robin is the male spelling and Robyn is for girls.

No, it’s a lovely name and quite popular.

I prefer the Robin spelling and think of it as unisex.

I think Robyn was an alternative female spelling that appeared in the Uk in the 70s. The older female Robins I know spell it like that, and in the Us it’s usually just Robin (like Robin Wright). Robyn always seems fussy to me.

I think of Robin as a male name and only know male Robins. I would assume the person was male with that spelling.

I have only seen Robyn for a girl so you may have confusion around gender and spelling. Depends if that would put you off!

I work with a girl called Robyn. You're definitely overthinking it's a lovely name.

I know a 3 year old girl Robin. Very cute. Personally, if it was my dd I'd go with the Robyn spelling, as I hadn't seen the Robin spelling for a girl before my friend had her dd.

I know a girl Robyn and no one says a thing about her name. Do kids now even know Batman has Robin as a side kick?

My god daughter (well, one of them) is a Robin with beautiful 'red' hair.

shes's 22 now & it has never been a problem.

i LOVE 'in' and really dislike 'yn'. I DGAF if it's supposed to be the 'male' version,
it's just nicer.

Yes you are overthinking it. You might get 1 or 2 jokes by 5 year olds but that will happen for any name, not a lifetime of bullying.
