Not expecting atm, but always have a wee notion of another down the line.

We have all boys and have a bit of a pang that we didn’t get to use our girls names - my favourite was Anna & husband’s was Kate.

If we ever had a fourth child, I don’t think we could choose between them. So I was thinking, maybe mother’s name?

Is Patricia too dated? I don’t like Pat/Patty/Patsy or anything like that.

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Phos · 26/08/2023 16:59

I like it but it does still sound dated. Maybe it’ll come back in a few years.

Why can’t you use Anna Kate?

MrWoodhousecanfeeladraught · 26/08/2023 16:58

Please don’t burden your child with this name; sorry but it’s really so dated and not in a good way.

pilates · 26/08/2023 16:05

Awful, sorry

TeenDivided · 26/08/2023 16:04

Patricia is a name women in their 80s and 90s have.
As such I think it isn't due a comeback for another 20-30 years.

RuthW · 26/08/2023 16:01

Love it especially shortened to Patsy and Patty

StrawberryPavlova · 26/08/2023 14:29

My mum is Patricia, she hates the nn Pat with a vengeance, and has always gone by Trish or Tricia. I think my grandparents are the only people I've ever heard call her Patricia.

KirstenBlest · 26/08/2023 13:06

I like it. Pat, Patti, Patsy, Paddy, Trish and Trisha are all OK.
Know a few Pats and Trish/Trisha/Tricias, all older than me and they're all nice women.

Patricia as a middle name would be a refreshing change from Rose, Grace and May, and more meaningful than a filler middle name.

RecklessBlackberries · 26/08/2023 13:05

I'm in my 30s and it's my middle name. When I was a child, people always took the piss when they found out and called me Pat. Absolutely hate it.

PatriciaHolm · 26/08/2023 12:19

You called? :-)

Unsurprisingly it's not my real name though; it's the name of a character created by Leslie Charteris in the 1920s. I wouldn't do it to a child today!

Berlinlover · 26/08/2023 11:55

I’ve always loved it, I also like the names Tricia or Trish.

continentallentil · 26/08/2023 11:52

I think it’ll be back in a decade or so - with Barbara and Jane and Susan. The lampard’s daughter is Patricia so it’s probably starting.

I like the full name - but Pat, Patty, Patsy and Tricia are awful.

However I know one who goes by Patchy which I like, and there’s also Tish and Pasha

YoungBritishPissArtist · 26/08/2023 11:52

You could shorten it to Tish? I quite like that nn.

ILookAtTheFloor · 26/08/2023 11:47

I kind of like it.

And she would be the only Patricia in her school, probably university as well! A very memorable name. Patty is super cute too.

OccasionalHope · 26/08/2023 11:42

Still too dated.

Whatabout Katarina? Or Ankaret?

Maireas · 26/08/2023 07:28

I like it. I think it's because I knew a lot of girls at school called Patricia - it was a Catholic school.
It's not horrendous and it's certainly not unique! It's a nice enough name, just not very current.
It's funny how things come round, though - I would never have thought I'd teach teenagers called Elsie, Mabel, Dottie, Esme and Maisie - to me they were "old lady names" and not attractive, but they've come round again.

FightingFate · 26/08/2023 05:12

Horrible on any age.

Sunshineandrainbow · 26/08/2023 05:09

Don't hear it very often... Frank lampard called his daughter Patricia and that was the first time I had heard it in ages.

toddlermum27 · 26/08/2023 05:06

Would be a lovely middle name

Fraaahnces · 26/08/2023 05:05

Oh god no. That’s my MIL and she’s vile.

loveandpoprockz · 26/08/2023 05:03

I don’t like it. It reminds me of Pat Butcher from Eastenders. It doesn’t sound very nice and they will probably end up being called Pat. Also thinking that she may end up being called Cow Pat at school because kids can be cruel.

user1492757084 · 26/08/2023 04:53

Patricia would always have a strong risk of being called Pat.
I would make Trish or Patty the nick name before they go to school.
I could not use it as a first name.

As a second name, Patricia is a distinguished nod to someone special.

NuffSaidSam · 26/08/2023 00:44

It's awful. Though I'm sure your mum's lovely.

Anna and Kate are both much better. Keep your fingers crossed for twins.

Does your mum have a middle name?

Whatsthepoint1234 · 26/08/2023 00:42

It’s like Pamela - not due a comeback.

ShellySarah · 26/08/2023 00:12

I don't know. It doesn't work on a baby but it's a name to grow into.

I know an Irish Patricia who is in her 30s and she suits it.

TeaKitten · 26/08/2023 00:09

It’s terrible.
