I’m looking for names that walk that are easily accessible and pronounceable for life in the UK and aren’t incredibly ‘in your face Muslim’ (I know that’s problematic but discrimination is fairly common and people do struggle with some uncommon names, like abdur rahman)

boy and girl names please :)

big families on both sides so most of the names we like are taken

Only names I wouldn't be keen on would Anas (anus), Rima (rimming) Aryan (Hitler connotations)

I don’t think Aryan is a Muslim name?

rima is pronounced Reema though, I think it’s pretty but I don’t think it’s one i would chose

i like Ayah/ Aya/ Aiya- lovely meaning too

Not keen on Alara and other names with repetitive sounds like Amaya and Anaya. They're samey and don't sound great if you say the name repeatedly.

  • Leila
  • Lina
  • Hilal
  • Sami
  • Sanah

these names are from cousins etc who were all born in the UK and are or have gone through the school system. I think they are all fairly easy to pronounce?

Lovely Laith, Layla, Rayan and Farah

is Danah like Dana?

i quite like Nura, Sami, Naïma (but it’s very Arab and I think people might struggle with it) and Dean (is that a bit chavvy though?)

Not really it sounds like daahnaah (soft “a”rather than Dayna)
