Brother for Auden

Baby is 2 weeks and still nameless. Like names that are unusual but not tooooooo pretentious. Looking at Chester, Stellan, Henry but not convinced. I’d like something as unusual as Auden but not as long as Ignatius, for examples. I’ve spent hours and hours researching - what have I missed?

Reid, Nye or Alaric

Oooh I feel like these are either going to be dead on or a complete miss haha

Personal favorite: Auden and Bellamy

While on the longer side, I feel like it just rolls off the tongue, and there is always Bell as a nickname. :)

Thank you so much everyone. I’ve read all these suggestions over and over. Still no closer but hoping to just commit to something this weekend! Much appreciated

Love Bram as a diminutive for Abraham.

This is what came to mind for me too. Even if it's not that well known, enough people know of it to put me off the name!

What about Bram?

By the way I've not really heard Auden but I like it. If that's right and it's not Aidan my suggestions thinking about the combination of names:

Cole
Drew
Finn
Gabriel
Ross
Sebastian
Tobias

No to Chester because your firstborn's namesake W. H. Auden had a lover called Chester.
Hugh is the poet's middle name so no to that.

Eliot works for me, as it is another 20th century poet's surname but as it veers from the usual spelling will cause problems.

So I'd go with the very first answer you got. Byron is lovely.

M00nknight · 18/08/2023 15:01

Poe.. lol please do not name your child after a teletubby. Your mental pokodau 😆

What about Ardan ?
Auden and Ardan

Whatsthepoint1234 · 18/08/2023 14:37

I’ve just looked at the article and it’s a comic book so even more obscure. I wouldn’t worry about it OP. I think people are more likely to bring up the city than a comic from the 70s/80s.

Whatsthepoint1234 · 18/08/2023 14:36

I don’t think Chester the molestor is widely known at all tbh, if you Google any name with ‘murderer’ or ‘sex offender’ after it most names will come up with something. I just did it with my relatively unusual name and found two murderers who share it. I never even knew and nobody has ever mentioned it to me! The thing that would put me off Chester is the association with the city, it feels like naming your kid Cambridge or Chelmsford.

MadNads · 18/08/2023 13:20

I have literally never heard of this. Is it widely known?
