Maria is quite nice

Jennifer is fine, Jennie is nice

Tamsin - always makes me think of tampon, how about Aislinn, Caitlin or Catrin?

Vera - I know one little one, it’s not very pretty I don’t think - how about Thora, Stella or Vivia?

DuchessOfSausage · 20/08/2023 11:02

It's ok @AdoraLovesCake , they look so similar. Tasmin is a name from the Indian subcontinent but I might be wrong.
Tamsin is from Thomasina, I think.

@AdoraLovesCake , that's Tasmin. The OP is asking about Tamsin.

Oh whoops! Sorry, didn't get much sleep last night. Tamsin is nice in my opinion.

DuchessOfSausage · 20/08/2023 09:57

@AdoraLovesCake , that's Tasmin. The OP is asking about Tamsin.

marshmallowfinder · 20/08/2023 09:44

Tamsin is really lovely. Dislike all the others.

Tamsin.
Jennifer, I like Jenna.
Vera.
Maria.

In my old house, my neighbour was a Tasmin but everyone confused her for a Jasmine.
Jenna is a pretty name.
Maria is lovely.
Not keen on Vera.

DuchessOfSausage · 18/08/2023 09:31

@Vintagecreamandcottagepie , Tam, Tammy.

Tamzyn is blimmin' awful.

Vera Duckworth was Veronica

LadyGeorginaSmythe · 17/08/2023 23:18

Love Jen/Jenna...it's in my top 3 but I'm done having kids

The others...nope, not to my taste at all.

bingojuice · 17/08/2023 23:17

Vera is lovely 😊

sunshineandshowers40 · 17/08/2023 23:15

Not Marla!
Jennifer is lovely, also don't mind Vera.

Vintagecreamandcottagepie · 17/08/2023 23:13

I really like Tamsin but can't think of one good name it could be shortened to.

Jennifer is nice.

Maria and Vera seem very very middle aged.

TheBirdintheCave · 17/08/2023 23:06

The most beautiful person I know is called Vera. She's a Belgian woman in her early 30s and could likely work as a model if she wanted to.

I imagine her when I see the name so it's synonymous with beauty to me.

Vera would be my vote :)

Sleepnplay · 17/08/2023 22:59

Love Jennifer (I'd nickname Jen) and really like Tamsin too. Maria's not really my cup of tea, but it's fine. I agree with the majority of other posters on Vera I'm afraid!

Yokaiwatch · 17/08/2023 18:00

Oh and Tamsin I just think ‘ Tam’s in’

Yokaiwatch · 17/08/2023 17:58

I like Maria it’s a beautiful name and so underused. I like Jennifer but not as much and you obviously have to consider the high likelihood of nicknames. I’m not so keen on Vera personally but might suit a baby well, and I do like that it starts with a V (it’s nice to have initials that are less common letters especially if you sign your name a lot in your job)

DuchessOfSausage · 17/08/2023 17:37

What a refreshing list.

Tamsin - like it a lot. Feminine without being twee or frilly. A bit like Harriet in vibe. A feminine form of a boy's name without being obviously so.
Jennifer, I like Jenna. - Nice straightforward name. I don't like Jenna but Jenny/Jenni is ok.
Vera. - don't like it at all. I know 2 really lovely Veras, but it's a name that Corrie made me dislike, as it Ivy
Maria - great. Pretty, feminine, works internationally.

FoodFann · 17/08/2023 12:46

Maria is okay. The rest are not to my taste

DinnaeFashYersel · 17/08/2023 12:45

Jennifer, Jenna and Maria are all great.

Not keen on the other two.

Coffeeandcakemum · 17/08/2023 12:41

I like Tamsin 😊

BungleandGeorge · 17/08/2023 12:02

Tamsin is nice. Lots of them about 20/25 years ago. Potential shortening to Tammy would put me off
Maria-good. The only one I’d call truly classic and timeless
jennifer- nice. Just call her Jenna if that’s what you like
vera-no. Unfortunately Vera was always used in tv etc as an unattractive name which will stick with people. Personally I’m not that keen on the sound either

Pieceofpurplesky · 17/08/2023 11:25

I love the name Jenny. DS would have been Jenny.

I also like Ginny

Mumofgirls2017 · 17/08/2023 10:05

Tamsin and Jennifer very dated imo. Maria quite nice and classic. Vera unfortunately reminds me of coronation street

Crablobster · 17/08/2023 09:24

Your list is unusual because I was ecpecting like Eva, Sophia, Ava, Isla. I'm 22 and don't get the ick about Vera so idk if it's an age thing but my grandmas name is Sophie. I just feel like Vera doesn't sound very English but that's ok.
I'm trying to think which I would prefer to be called of the lot and I've settled on.....Tamsin or Maria but I've decided Maria because I HATE Tammy.

Busubaba · 17/08/2023 09:09

Tamsin. - okish.
Jennifer, I like Jenna. - Jenny from the block. No.
Vera - awful.
Maria. - the best out of the lot. I prefer Marie.

SleepingStandingUp · 17/08/2023 08:46

Jennifer is nice, and I think you'll be ahead of the curve when that generation of names makes a full come back.

Maria is timeless and universal. It wouldn't be my choice but I'd think it nice for someone else.
Vera I was going to say no, but if I disassociate it from VDuckworth, I dunno, I quite like it. It sounds a bit exotic. Maybe it's just slow to return.
Tasmin, o prefer Tamsin / Tamzyn
