Hi all, we have narrowed it down to:

Charlotte
Lily
Ruby

Which do you like best? I’m leaning towards Charlotte as I think it’s so pretty if a bit dull? Thanks

I think Ruby is lovely

shoopshoopdedoo · 15/08/2023 21:29

Lovely choice OP 🥰

Cantdecide20 · 15/08/2023 20:09

Thanks all for the comments, we’ve decided to go with Lily Gladys 😊 I know Lily is meant to be really popular but we just love it so I think it’s the one.

I love Ruby and Ruby Gladys is even better.

PickledScrump · 15/08/2023 13:27

Charlotte is a bit dull and if you don’t like the nicknames I’d rethink.

Ruby was incredibly popular a few years ago and has faded out again now so I think it’ll sound really dated, I know loads between 6-15.

Lily is lovely and is the only one that flows well with Gladys. Everyone says it’s popular but I only know of one who is actually a lily-may and she’s 12.

BungleandGeorge · 15/08/2023 01:17

I like lily best. They’re all popular so I wouldn’t make that a distinction. Charlotte also quite nice, I don’t think Lottie is the most common shortening so unlikely she’ll automatically be called that

Daisybuttercup12345 · 15/08/2023 01:09

Love Charlotte.
Ruby reminds me of the song.

Theoldwoman · 14/08/2023 22:31

Charlotte, 100%

velvetstars · 13/08/2023 21:05

Ruby always strikes me as a stripper name a bit like Emerald, Diamanté & Topaz Confused

Charlotte is lively though and, although quite popular, Lilly is pretty too.

continentallentil · 13/08/2023 21:00

I like Charlotte but there are a lot of them.. but I think you do need something classic to offset Gladys so I’d go with it,

Ruby Gladys sounds like a Catherine Cookson, as does Lily.

MrsH497 · 13/08/2023 20:33

I have a Charlotte. She isn't Charlie or Lottie she's Charlotte. Lily is a middle name of hers. Not keen on Ruby - have heard Rubes as a nickname which is think is awful

ladygindiva · 13/08/2023 20:09

Ruby Gladys is brilliant

Coffeeandcakemum · 13/08/2023 20:01

Ruby 😊

helibirdcomp · 13/08/2023 19:31

Def Charlotte, can be varied to Charlie or Lottie if child prefers

faban · 13/08/2023 19:10

Lily

17caterpillars1mouse · 13/08/2023 19:08

I quite like Gladys

I would choose Ruby Gladys

AdaColeman · 13/08/2023 19:03

You must read Reckless Ruby by Hiawyn Oram, a fab book for a little girl!

I've known quite a few Charlottes, but one was always called "Shar" which I thought was a shame to spoil a pretty name.

Avastmehearties · 13/08/2023 18:49

Ruby has more of a fiery and strong feel (maybe the red association). I prefer it to Charlotte.

Lily is lovely in itself but rather overused by now in my opinion. It also doesn't flow with Gladys.

Ruby Gladys is cool and sharp as well as pretty.

TenThousandSpoons · 13/08/2023 18:47

Charlotte is my favourite but I quite like all of them.

Alloveragain3 · 13/08/2023 18:47

Charlotte is lovely and I'm a fan of the nn Lottie.

Ruby feels fresh and fun to me but makes me think of a "Ruby Murray / curry"

Comedycook · 13/08/2023 18:44

Ruby

Cantdecide20 · 13/08/2023 18:44

Thanks everyone, I’m torn between Charlotte and Ruby. I don’t like Lottie which makes me feel I shouldn’t go for Charlotte

I love the name Ruby!!

If I hadn’t have had two sons then I would have had a Ruby 👍

I also find Charlotte a bit dull.

UltramarineViolet · 13/08/2023 18:04

*popular not possible!

shoopshoopdedoo · 13/08/2023 18:04

I like them all. I think a Lily Gladys is my favourite - love a middle name to honour someone special!
