Oh I disagree I like it, I feel like it’s a name Gwenyth and Chris would have used. Prefer it to River, Apple or Ivy etc

KirstenBlest · 10/08/2023 20:44

Yes, @Fridaytomorrow , it would be like saying River Helm Beck or something

KirstenBlest · 10/08/2023 20:42

although my first thought was Titicaca

@ShadowPuppets , Lake Windermere is not a name of a lake. The name is Windermere.

Is that because a mere is another name for a body of water, a shallow one if I remember correctly, so the watery bit is already in the name?

KirstenBlest · 10/08/2023 20:41

I didn't fact check it. The mere part of the word gives it away.

Victoria might be a good middle name.

BiscuitsandPuffin · 10/08/2023 20:41

Have you considered Ricki?

You know what, I started typing that (thank you QI!) but stopped myself in pursuit of the joke 😂 thank you for fact checking me!

Probably should have gone with Ontario, Superior, Huron, Erie…

Almost as bad as Summer, Skye and Storm

Fridaytomorrow · 10/08/2023 20:33

The only Lake I’ve ever met is male, and in his 50s - 60s. As he is from Scotland I’d assumed it was a Scots name.

DH refers to Lake’s son as Pond, but only to me.

ShadowPuppets · 10/08/2023 20:29

If your surname is Windermere then go for it.

continentallentil · 10/08/2023 20:28

No, it’s not even an especially nice sounding word.

I’m not a particular fan of Autumn or Meadow, but they do at least have a pretty sound.

What about

Stream

Estuary

Channel

Bay

Pond

I think it’s lovely and if you like it too then great! Go with what you like and what you think works for your baby!

Thank you

It's no worse than Brooke.

There are nicer naturey names out there all the same imo.

It's funny the name Brooke gets a lot of bad press on MN! (Although the irony is I don't like it either)

We want Lake and River to get together and make a Puddle...

I think it's awful. I don't think it's a particularly nice sounding word.
