The correct spelling is Freyja ( silent J).. The viking Goddess of fertility.. my daughter is called Freyja she's nearly 40.. it became popular then in the last decade with people missing the J out.

The anglicised spelling is not something that has only become popular in the last decade. I know Freya’s all considerably older than 10, one is older than your daughter.

@TinkerbellefromYorkshire , Freyja is the correct spelling of the goddess's name, but the name has been anglicised to Freya. Freyja is pronounced differently.

The Freyja pronunciation is nicer.
