Which one would you choose? Friend is torn between the 2 and due in October. Middle name will be Charlotte
thanks

Natty or Tasha

Strokethefurrywall · 07/08/2023 22:30

I'm a Natalie so I'm probably biased, but I do think Natalie/Natalia Charlotte sounds better than Natasha Charlotte. I do love Natasha though.

Nobody has ever called me Nah-u-lee, and if she's choosing a shortening she prefers early, everyone will get used to it. My niece is Gabriella and has only ever been known by her full name or by GiGi. Never Gabby, so it's really whatever nn you introduce that will be used.

I like Tasha as a nn for Natasha but Tasha is also a name in its own right where I am.

FindingTheFox · 07/08/2023 22:20

I like both, but Natalie is better with Charlotte. I know a young Natalie, most people here pronounce it properly.

Hotflushesinthesunfun · 07/08/2023 22:16

It’s more Nat- le here, no uh in the middle

dollybird · 07/08/2023 20:30

DD is a Natalie and I don't think anyone calls her Nah-uh-lee. Her friends call her Nat. When she was little she had a friend called Natalia. DS thought her name was Na-charlia 🤣

jfoyo26 · 07/08/2023 20:30

I love both those names - they do have an 80's vibe but I love that. Mum to a Louise and Rachel over here, let's bring back those cool 80's names xx

Hotflushesinthesunfun · 07/08/2023 20:21

Natalie sounds awful where I live so Natasha. I like Tasha as nn

Nellle · 07/08/2023 20:06

Where I live, all the Natalies become Na-Leh, so Natasha.

17caterpillars1mouse · 07/08/2023 20:05

I like both but prefer Natasha. Natalie has a more dated feel to it

PickledScrump · 07/08/2023 20:04

Charlotte doesn’t work well with Natasha, both names are pretty dated. If the middle name is a definite, go for Natalie

Friggingfrog · 07/08/2023 14:49

Thanks, am passing on opinions. She would pronounce the t in Natalie but obviously can’t guarantee that others would. I think nicknames she like Talllie or Tasha but not Nat for either

OP posts:
DuchessOfSausage · 07/08/2023 13:45

Natalie but only if the t is sounded. I agree with the pp that it's much nicer when said by someone french.
Natasha seems very 1980s
Natalia is too much.

She could be Tally for short.

RitzyMcFitzy · 07/08/2023 13:37

I never think the versions of names with the a ending sound add nice as the e ending names. Natalia, Isabella and Sophia seem brash compared to Natalie, Isabelle and Sophie.

Theoldwoman · 07/08/2023 13:33

Natalie Charlotte

I do love Natalia more though.

salamithumbs · 07/08/2023 11:04

I think Natalie is lovely!

StampOnTheGround · 07/08/2023 10:46

Not Natasha
Natalie is okay
But Natalia is nicer

AcrobaticCardigan · 07/08/2023 10:30

Neither - very dated. They’re more 80s baby names.

user1492757084 · 07/08/2023 10:29

Natalie is best with Charlotte.

Mummy2823 · 07/08/2023 10:28

I'm a Natalie!
I personally think Natasha Charlotte or Natalia Charlotte sounds better than Natalie

TootenCarMoon · 07/08/2023 10:22

Natasha! I loved with this for DD along with Sasha but surname is similar to Marshall so too many SH sounds.

GoodVibesHere · 07/08/2023 10:21

Natalie

BHRK · 07/08/2023 10:19

Natasha, it’s a lovely name

BlasianLipGloss · 07/08/2023 10:19

It boils down to this: which does she prefer, Nat or Tash?

DewOnTheMorningGrass · 07/08/2023 10:16

Think about how it might be shortened, both do Nat one does Tash or Tasha. I know both a Natalie and a Natasha. I agree Natalia is nicer than Tash which is body hair.

willietheobeseworm · 07/08/2023 10:09

Natasha without the middle name Charlotte or a buffer in between.

Natalie will be said like Nah ah Lee by most people.

Lots of beautiful names that suit French girls become cheap on the English.
