Are these girl names too dated?

Lauren, Nicole, Brooke

I quite like these names but I’m not sure if they’re too dated to use or due for a comeback. My favorite combination is Lauren Nicole. Are they too bland or dated? I Would love hear your honest feedback.

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Lauren bashing is okay, lwren bashing, is not.

🤣

Neverseenbefore · 03/08/2023 13:56

I think they are all dated except maybe Jessica. I think Laurel would be a better alternative to Lauren. Even Laura is more classic.

PossiblyNotOne · 03/08/2023 13:50

I like Nicole. Prefer Laura to Lauren.

And as pp said they make a change from the sea of Evies, Amelia’s, Avas, Islas and Olivia’s.

UnaVaca · 03/08/2023 13:45

Awful

leccybill · 03/08/2023 13:44

I know a Brooke spelled Brooque 😬

Lauren is lovely, Nicole is nicely unusual.
I teach a million Jessicas.

Nicolette sounds like Nicorette the brand.

babysharkdoodoodedoodedoo · 03/08/2023 13:10

I love Nicole - it’s very classy. Jessica and Lauren to me are dated and a bit boring. Brooke is dated and a bit of a 00s school bully with a fake Burberry bag and concealer as lipstick name.

Theoldwoman · 03/08/2023 13:06

Not a fan of Brooke. Know heaps and they are all called Brookie.

Lauren is okay, but just reminds me of the woman on trial for the murder of her kids.

Nicole is not too bad, I do like Nicolette though.

While these names were all more popular in the 90s, I don't think they're exclusively dated to that time period and I agree that a baby Lauren, Nicole, Brooke or Jessica, would be a breath of fresh air among all the Olivias, Evies, Avas and Islas.

Fivebeanchilli · 03/08/2023 12:37

I absolutely love the name Jess and know so many lovely Jesses... But I'm not so keen on Jessica. Jessamy and Jessamine are much prettier in my view but I think I'm very much a minority!

Gnomegnomegnome · 03/08/2023 11:43

I love Nicole, closely followed by Jessica but not a fan of Lauren and definitely not Brooke.

Nicole makes me think of the Renault Clio advert but I love it.

Jessica is just beautiful.

Brooke and Lauren feel a bit 90’s home and away or Beverly Hills 90210.

FuckoffeeBeforeCoffee · 03/08/2023 11:39

I love Lauren and Nicole two of my fave girl names.

I'm not bashing americans - it was very popular in the USA in the 1980s. It looks quite pretty but I don't like the sound. Lorrun.

It was originally a man's name, pretty much until Lauren Bacall real name Betty Joan Perske made it seem more a woman's name.

I was told by an ex whose name it was that Loren is the male version and Lauren the female. I think it's dated and unattractive, if not as bad as Brooke.

Nicole is nice, and not dated in the UK. The Nicoles I know (in Europe) are in their 70s and 90s respectively, so it could be due a revival. I'd personally avoid Nicola though, as most of the bitchy girls at school were called that.

I don't think you can go wrong with Jessica.

I don't think Lauren is a 1980s American name that doesn't really make much sense except to bash Americans.

FayCarew · 03/08/2023 11:05

Lauren isn't timeless. It seems very 1980s american. I think it sounds harsh.

SunnieShine · 03/08/2023 11:02

I like them all except Brooke.

Nicola is due a comeback, and Nicole is lovely. Or how about Simone?

itsmyp4rty · 03/08/2023 11:01

I agree that Lauren is timeless. Brooke is too American for me. Jessica and Nicole are fine but I like Lauren best.

CallieQ · 03/08/2023 11:00

Lauren and Jessica lovely

Fivebeanchilli · 03/08/2023 10:59

I see them all as dated with the possible exception of Jessica. I know lots of Laurens and Jessicas in their 20s. The Nicoles are mainly in their 30s. I don't know any Brookes but I don't like it.

TheBloatedMiddle · 03/08/2023 10:54

I like the combination of Lauren Nicole. It's my kind of era though- I am late 40s

Off topic though, but I overheard a Gladys the other day. (Not on a child.... on an older woman) but I thought that this was a dated name that might not even survive the granny chic trend right now.

BrutusMcDogface · 03/08/2023 10:52

Lauren is a beautiful name. I think it’s timeless, like Laura.

Jessica is extremely popular where I live.

Mrsjayy · 03/08/2023 10:51

I'm not keen on Brooke even when it was popular, the others are fine and will imo always rotate and Come back.

1993GoToo · 03/08/2023 10:51

Yes, all dated but still quite pretty. Nicole is the best

Comedycook · 03/08/2023 10:49

Jessica isn't dated imo

Lauren and Nicole are very 90s. But I actually like them both.

Not sure about Brooke...a bit 2000s perhaps

StamppotAndGravy · 03/08/2023 10:46

How about Nicolette? It's dated on the continent but was never popular in the UK so wouldn't seem so dated.
