I like them all. Joella is probably best with a short surname.
Joelle is the one I prefer.

I also love Johanna, Joanna, Josephine, Lewella and Louella.
I know a Joanne who is called Joey - as in, baby kangaroo.

Jodie and Jody are not faves but are also nice and were once VERY popular - even for boys.
Joseph, Joe and Joel are handsome.

DuchessOfSausage · 02/08/2023 08:58

@CremeEggsForBreakfast , it's like they say it as Joe-LEE not Joel-ee. Imagine someone saying Julie normally and someone else saying Ju-LEE.
cf. Janet and Janette.

Daisybuttercup12345 · 02/08/2023 00:07

Josephine
Josie
Jodie
Julie
Joanna
Jolie
Jo-Ann

continentallentil · 01/08/2023 23:26

Hillbilly - like Dolly Parton’s Jolene.

Joanna is great though, and Josephine is nice

AdalineStephen · 01/08/2023 17:51

I would say Joely like COAL-ee and Jolie like Joll-LEE, but I could be wrong.

PickledScrump · 01/08/2023 17:47

@DuchessOfSausage there are different pronunciations of Joely which is why I was asking op which they would be using and I’m aware how to say Joel, but thanks.

DuchessOfSausage · 01/08/2023 17:24

@PickledScrump , Joel is usually said as Jole, but some say it as Joe-ul or Jo-EL. Joely is usually said like Joanie only with an l not n.
Is Jovie a name?

ButtonMoonBlanketSky · 01/08/2023 16:01

I like them both and Jovie as well. Not keen on Joella.

PickledScrump · 01/08/2023 15:37

How would Joely be pronounced? Like Joel-ee or Joe-lee. I think Joelle is nicer and gets rid of pronounciation issues

IsadoraQuagmire · 01/08/2023 15:31

I know a Joelle, she always goes by Jo though.

JaninaDuszejko · 01/08/2023 15:27

Just me singing 'Jolene, Jolene, Jolene, Jo-leeeene' in their head then?

ReeseWitherfork · 01/08/2023 15:24

The woman who heads up Pregnant Then Screwed is called Joeli and every time I hear her name I think how lovely it is. Really suits her. So if you want to see it on an adult woman then head over to their social media.

Joella…. Is a no from me.

jannier · 01/08/2023 15:23

I thought it was a car seat question sorry.

CremeEggsForBreakfast · 01/08/2023 15:21

DuchessOfSausage · 01/08/2023 15:01

@CremeEggsForBreakfast , rhymes with Coley or Foley

I'm also pronouncing them as "coal-ee" (Like Coleen without the 'n') and "foal-ee".

I've Googled and all three seem to be pronounced to rhyme "Joel/Cole/Foal" then "ee". Is Joley supposed to be pronounced with a more French accent?

Clettercletterthatsbetter · 01/08/2023 15:18

I usually favour more traditional names but Joella is actually really nice. It reminds me of Floella Benjamin.

Whataretheodds · 01/08/2023 15:15

I like Joely, haven't heard it for ages.

Not keen on Joelle. Don't think like Joella.

DuchessOfSausage · 01/08/2023 15:12

It's not a how a french person would say it., Dombasle, but that's how many in the UK ans USA say it, Joe Lee

Velvetbee · 01/08/2023 15:10

Joelle. I used to work with a brilliant one, so funny and creative.

DuchessOfSausage · 01/08/2023 15:10

People say Angelina Joe Lee

Dombasle · 01/08/2023 15:08

DuchessOfSausage · 01/08/2023 15:01

@CremeEggsForBreakfast , rhymes with Coley or Foley

I've known my friend Jolie for over fifty years and I've never heard anyone call her 'Joe Lee'! That's ghastly.

DuchessOfSausage · 01/08/2023 15:03

Joely Richardson, Joely Collins

Jolie is dreadful - gets said as Joe Lee

DuchessOfSausage · 01/08/2023 15:01

@CremeEggsForBreakfast , rhymes with Coley or Foley

OopsieeDaisy · 01/08/2023 14:49

I love Joelle! Joely is lovely too but I prefer the spelling Jolie - I’ve never seen it spelt Joely before and Jolie looks much prettier and more feminine imo. Not keen on Joella, reminds me of cruella for some reason.

CremeEggsForBreakfast · 01/08/2023 14:44

DuchessOfSausage · 01/08/2023 14:23

Joely. Joelle and Joella seem a bit made up.

Really? I've met people called Joelle and Joella but noone called Joely. How do you even say it? I'm imagining a boy named Joel but with an 'ee' sound added on to sound cute.

Dombasle · 01/08/2023 14:36

I have a friend called Jolie and that's a beautiful name.

Joelle is my preference over Joelly.
