What do you think of Anna? Is it boring?

Dull.

I do like Marianna though.

octoberfarm · 31/07/2023 00:49

Classic and beautiful. Not boring!

Daisybuttercup12345 · 31/07/2023 00:37

I knew a girl at school called Anna. Very bossy and put me off for life!
Anne?

MargauxM · 30/07/2023 23:04

I like Anna! As others have said, it is simple and classic without being boring. I think it works for all ages too. A lovely choice!

IamnotwhouthinkIam · 30/07/2023 22:18

Nope - not boring, it's a simple, underused classic with an elegant, international vibe (Anna Karenina etc). If there wasn't an Anna already in the family it would be my number one pick for a girl. It fun that it's a cool palindrome too!

wherehastheyeargone · 30/07/2023 21:58

This was the name I planned to use if I'd had a girl. I've always loved it!

I changed my name from something similar (a name ending in -anna) to Anna and I love it. I think it feels cheerful and upbeat. I've lived abroad a lot and it works well internationally. And it's common enough to not have issues with spelling but I don't personally meet that many Annas.

Fifthtimelucky · 30/07/2023 17:22

I really like it. I agree it's timeless and classic.

I know several. I know that in two cases the parents chose it because they wanted a name that worked well in different countries. For example, one couple (British) were living in Italy when their daughter was born and they wanted a name that worked as well there as it did here.

newfloorplease · 30/07/2023 16:11

Love it.
I also like Annalise and Annalie.

shoopshoopdedoo · 30/07/2023 15:56

Lovely

mathanxiety · 30/07/2023 15:28

Beautiful.
Strong Scandinavian vibes. The Annas I know all have Scandinavian ancestry.

Velvetbee · 30/07/2023 15:26

Love it, know a wonderful teenage one.

WanderingWitches · 30/07/2023 15:19

How would you pronounce it?
Ann ah?
Since Disneys Frozen came out, children might pronounce it as Arna

HavingYouAround · 30/07/2023 15:19

A good friend of mine has a daughter named Anna, lovely name.

Neverseenbefore · 30/07/2023 15:16

I really like it. Classy international name. I wouldn’t say it was any more Russian than it is Italian or Spanish etc.

Nonethemiser · 30/07/2023 15:05

Not absolutely sure why but I've never liked the name - I have known a couple of Anna's who really weren't very nice people but that was AFTER. Good luck.

Jomummy1013 · 30/07/2023 15:02

I really love it. I am pregnant and if I have a girl it is a name I am considering ❤️

SkaneTos · 30/07/2023 14:54

I love the name Anna.

blackpear · 30/07/2023 14:52

Beautiful. So dignified and elegant.

Theoldwoman · 30/07/2023 14:51

Love Anna. It’s elegant and timeless.

Comedycook · 30/07/2023 14:37

I agree with it being international. Yes I suppose it's popular in Russia but it's not my first thought or connotation

TenThousandSpoons · 30/07/2023 14:33

I love it.

xtremelyscarypoodle · 30/07/2023 14:31

I think Anna is the perfect international name because it doesn't belong to any particular culture. It can work in any place and at any time. Anna has been around for ages, and it's been changed and adapted throughout history. Sure, it's popular in Russia, but that doesn't mean we should judge the name based on politics. We all know that people are different from their leaders. Russia has some good people, and some bad people, just like any other country.
