This is my surname too. Its a bit of a pain to work with isn't it, as so many names run into it and either sound like another word, or just sound daft! When we had dd we decided we wanted at least 2 syllables for first name as we felt all the single syllable names we liked felt a little 'spiky' with such a short surname.

Fwiw our shortlist included

Harriet
Tabitha
Imogen
Nina
Rowan
Beatrix
Xanthe

We went with one of those. We did choose 1 syllable middle name though.

Having said all that if you love Grace then I dont think it sounds bad, and I don't think it sounds too much like 'gracefully'. If you love it go for it I reckon!

I think you need a Christian name with more than one syllable with Lee as a surname. Maybe use Grace as her middle name.

Did you realise there were so many rules? My rule is, if you like it, do it (unless it's like a dog's name). I think it's pretty. Again, just my view.

sooo many rules. I'm so indecisive though and I overthink every name

Grace is a lovely name but as a teacher I would worry if there was another Grace in her class, she would be Grace Lee all day which I think would quickly become Gracie.

I actually don't mind Gracie... but wanted her to have a more formal name.

My main worry was that it sounded like Gracefully?

I like the name Grace and it is fine but maybe a bit stacatto.

I think Susannah, Imogen or Francesca Lee sound nice.

Un7breakable · 31/07/2023 18:24

I like it

Not terrible, but could be a better first name I think.

Grace can be a short form of Gracelyn so one option with a longer first name might be.

Gracelyn Lee

EmLee94 · 30/07/2023 08:58

Grace is a lovely name but short to go with a short last name. You could have Gracie for the paperwork stuff but call her Grace. As some said in the previous comments Grace Lee may be mistaken just for Gracie, and confusion about her last name.
its completely your choice when it comes to it though.
Some ideas to stretch it out a bit, Her full name could be Gracie-May Lee

Gracie-Rose Lee
Gracie-Joy Lee

I think Grace Lee sounds demure, elegant and refreshing. I actually think most people strive to be different when it comes to names when actually now it's more unusual to go with a classic name like that.

Middle name Full?

Ha!

WanderingWitches · 29/07/2023 23:31

No
It sounds like you are saying Gracely. Needs to be a longer first name with your surname.

continentallentil · 29/07/2023 23:28

How about

Annabel
Vanessa
Miranda
Juliet
Francesca
Susannah
Imogen
Marianne
Caroline
Meredith
Adelaide
Vivienne (none of her peers will know the actress and it’s a nice red)
Emmeline
Genevieve

Marcipex · 29/07/2023 23:23

Gracie Lee sounds like ‘greasily’.

I knew a Jenny Lee. I always thought it was a pretty name.

So did I.

Though Jenny and Jennifer aren't back around yet so people would think the child is a 50-60 year old.

I like @xPeaceXx suggestions.

Fwiw i think one syllable names do work with surname Lee

Supertrouper990 · 29/07/2023 22:51

We only have a son and named him James. :)

xPeaceXx · 29/07/2023 22:24

That sounds a bit blank. Fill the space. It needs more umph

I'd go for a three syllable name with a two syllable middle name to give another initial. Maybe something unusual to lessen the number of others. Can't think of anything super unusual right now!

For example

Paloma Gracie Lee
Juliet Nina Lee
Lydia Zoe Lee
Marianne Sophie Lee
Susannah Louise Lee

peaceofmind1 · 29/07/2023 22:13

Gracie is too much of a nn for us

@Supertrouper990 sorry pressed send too early.

Olivia is nice and Sophia.

I quite like Sophia (prefer Sophie) DH isn't super keen though. We hear people pronounce Sophia Su-fee-a and we aren't keen on that pronunciation

I think it needs a longer first name. I like Grace, though. Not Gracie.
