DP suggested it but I think it's awful! Look dreadful lol and would condemn our poor DD to a lifetime of having to say "it's same as Elsie but spelt.... ". Argh!

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Tiqtaq · 25/07/2023 16:36

I'd assume that's provinces
Ay Yell Sy Eee

WonderingWanda · 25/07/2023 16:16

Whilst the name Elsie is lovely that spelling looks bizarre and I would say no.

Atethehalloweenchocs · 25/07/2023 16:08

Looks like you cant spell.

BriocheForBreakfast · 25/07/2023 16:00

Personally I think it's ridiculous. How did you come up with the spelling? What about Ellsie? Even then she'll be constantly correcting how her name is spelt.

Mariposista · 25/07/2023 15:57

Nope. Poor child. Elsie is a lovely, old-fashioned name, but FGS use the normal spelling. Or choose something else.

Zeroperspective · 25/07/2023 15:55

Polite reaction; obviously it's up to you as a parent to chose a name for your DC that you find beautiful, it wouldn't be to my taste but of course its your decision

Instant reaction; oh f no what the actual f are you thinking?! 😂

jazzhands84 · 25/07/2023 15:51

Teachers are not paid enough to have to put up with this kind of naming nonsense

38andtrying · 25/07/2023 15:49

Tacky and horrible to look at it, tell him no way lol

Huns2Getha4Eva · 25/07/2023 15:49

I thought u menat another way 2 spell Elyseea lol. Thats a nice name if ur hubs wants sthg a bit diffrent 😍🥰😘 xxx

Fraaahnces · 25/07/2023 15:43

Another one dooming their kid into having to explain themselves all the damn time just to be “different”. Hate it.

Topseyt123 · 25/07/2023 15:40

Er, no! Utterly cringeworthy and fuckwitted!

Your poor child would not thank you at all in years to come.

Harrythehappypig · 25/07/2023 15:39

maybe with a single rather than double L? No point in adding superfluous letters

Cakeandcardio · 25/07/2023 15:24

I don't think it is an alternative spelling though?
The y and the ie both make the same sound. So it's more like Elsieie. And it also doesn't look like a nice name .

Wisenotboring · 25/07/2023 15:14

Words fail me.

Just no, absolutely not.

Or does she have a sister called shivauhn...?

shieldmaiden7 · 25/07/2023 15:13

Oh dear 🤣🤣

uncomfortablydumb53 · 25/07/2023 15:11

Ridiculous Don't do it

willWillSmithsmith · 25/07/2023 15:09

No no no. Why for heavens sake. Tell your hub he’s being a knob.

Elsie is bad enough, but to spell it like that is just bonkers!

I'm in my 60s and Elsie was an old person's name when I was growing up. As were many others that are now popular, including Ruby - which is the name of one of my nieces!

But if you're going with a name, stupid alternative spellings are just that - stupid.

CaveMum · 25/07/2023 15:06

Ha 😂 Reminds me of the stuff that used to appear on the "Bad Bad Baby Names" blog back in the early 2000s. The basic rules of thumb were:

Replace random vowels with the letter Y; or
Change spelling but maintain original pronunciation; or
Change pronunciation but maintain original spelling - my favourite example being a child whose name was pronounced "Why-Vone", but spelt Yvonne!

ILikeDinosaurs · 25/07/2023 15:04

No, it's incredibly ugly as well as illegible! Why?

What about Elise or Eloise as an alternative to Elsie?

JesusMaryAndJosephAndTheWeeDon · 25/07/2023 15:03

Why would you have a child with such a monster?

2bazookas · 25/07/2023 15:02

@Oceanus

Out of curiosity, could I ask if it would be possible to name a kid "doctor"? lol Sorry it's just come up in conversation. As in Doctor Smith or whatever with Doctor as the first name

Ask Barron Trump how that's working out.

tt9 · 25/07/2023 15:01

@BestBadger I am afraid you spelt ehllsyie wrong..
