What do you think of Wren for a boys name?
We live in the UK and haven’t met anyone with the name.

is the name Wren more for girls?

I have a friend who has a little boy called Wren. REALLY not a fan of the name for a boy.

Maybe Robin instead?

Have you considered Howden?

First and foremost, it's a bird.

A noisy little Jenny Wren.
There are better names for a boy.

It's definitely a girl's name in the UK

According to Darker Green

But to be honest first and foremost it's a kitchen brand.

First and foremost, it's a bird.

ploopypleepy · 20/07/2023 14:46

I know a boy wren , it's nice !

Allthegoodnamesarechosen · 20/07/2023 14:38

If you want a bird, why not Robin?

I am not sure an adult man named after a dainty little garden bird works.

Agree, a strapping six footer with big manly arms, called Wren , would be unfortunate.

Jongleterre · 20/07/2023 14:24

Nice nickname for a girl called Serendipity but an awful first name
Die a boy.

He'll be called Jenny at school.

Pumpkinlady · 20/07/2023 14:16

I think it's unisex with a more feminine lean.

I prefer Ren, love it for a boy. But I've only actually heard that as a name in Footloose or Ren & Stimpy 😳
Could be a nickname for Lorenzo x

pambeeslyhalpert2 · 20/07/2023 14:13

I know a boy Wren whose American but lives in the UK, then I know 2 girl wrens. I think of a girl when I hear it

It's a nice surname. Dreadful as a first name. Lovely birds but tiny and loud.

This is my name and that's actually a good description of me 😂

Pinkrosepetals · 20/07/2023 13:08

Traditionally softer/ feminine sounding names are becoming fashionable for boys - Sasha, Luca, Wren etc. So on trend and he won’t feel out of place among peers. Robin is a sweet garden bird but lots of parents are starting to use this name again, I don’t see a difference. Use it! If everyone followed the same Freddie, Leo, Max script life would be boring.

itsmyp4rty · 20/07/2023 12:22

Girls name to me, I wouldn't. It might be cute on a toddler but I couldn't imagine a teenage boy named after a Jenny wren.

WaltzingWaters · 20/07/2023 12:17

Definitely more a girls name. I wouldn’t.

IglesiasPiggl · 20/07/2023 12:16

I am not sure an adult man named after a dainty little garden bird works.

Lindy2 · 20/07/2023 12:16

I'd say Ren for a boy and Wren for a girl.

It could be a nickname for Lawrence.

The main character in Footloose was a boy called Ren. I actually always thought it was quite a cool name but I may be in the minority based upon the other replies!

RobertsRadio · 20/07/2023 12:13

What about Robin, Crow, Raven or Dartford Warbler.

TrueScrumptious · 20/07/2023 12:11

I would assume a girl. I don’t like it as a name for either sex. Lawrence with a short form Wren/Ren might be OK.

wherethewaterisdarker · 20/07/2023 12:09

I think of it as a boy’s name - unisex, but my mind goes to boy. I love the name and the bird.

IridescentRainbird · 20/07/2023 12:01

I wouldn't use it for a boy, I always think "Jenny Wren".

DuchessOfSausage · 20/07/2023 11:57

Have you considered Howden?

VeridicalVagabond · 20/07/2023 11:56

Boy or girl all it makes me think of is mediocre kitchens.

Babybabybabyy · 20/07/2023 11:55

I would automatically think girl when I heard it but it’s unusual enough that it could pass for either. I do think unisex names work best for girls though (even if they’re more commonly used for boys) rather than using one for a boy. If you love it, go for it though

villamariavintrapp · 20/07/2023 11:53

Chrissy

AdaColeman · 20/07/2023 11:53

Have you considered Hawk, Jay, Peregrine or Robin?
