Hi! Would love some advice on which name is people’s fave from the below list. Really struggling to land on a girls name…

Thea
Coco
Bonnie
Bibi
Alma
Jude
Maya
Juno
Marnie

Thea and Bonnie

ChildrenOfTheQuorn · 19/07/2023 12:54

1 Bonnie
2 Juno
3 Marnie
4 Thea

Bibi and Jude need formalising IMO. And Coco is a no-no.

Why ask if you don't want people to answer and some might say 'awful'. I mean some names really are awful, which is why they are extinct.

I have a 14m Juno, I thought it would be unusual but have met 2 others since and it’s not a big town! Our other choice was Athena and haven’t met any of them yet haha.

It's a lovely name so not surprised it's on the rise. I wouldn't be bothered by that though. Our other child has a super classic very popular name, which we never thought we'd go for but we love it.

Soothingaftersun · 19/07/2023 12:34

Another vote for Coco , so cute

Ritualofayurveda · 19/07/2023 12:09

Coco, Bonnie and Alma are my faves

CL1982 · 19/07/2023 11:45

Thea - yes love, Greek muse
Coco - I think of a clown...sorry
Bonnie -love but go Roberta so they can pick Bonnie for short later?
Bibi - personally a nickname for a linger name
Alma - not a fan tbh and v popular
Jude - boys name and Jude was SO miserable in Jude the Obscure (plus very unhappy)
Maya - lovely but popular which doesn't mean it isn't lovely
Juno - lot of dogs have this name around here but love it
Marnie -muh....I think of the unhappy, abused cleptomaniac in Hitchcock but many won't!

I know a Chloe nicknamed Coco. Really cute.

Other than that, Marnie.

My DD is a Chloe nicknamed Coco, and sometimes we really annoy her by 'mixing up the clowns' and calling her Bozo 🤣. But I do love the names Chloe and Coco (the latter only as a nickname I think).

92elv · 19/07/2023 11:09

Oh gosh, it's a great list, don't be put off by MNers saying names are "awful"! I think a lot of people are out of touch with what's in style now.

Love it all, only personal dislike is "Bibi" but just as there's so many people in my area with some variation of it as a surname!

Favourite there is Juno. Love girl names that end in "o" - so poetic, strong and not overly girly. Yes there's a film (Oscar winning!) of the same name, but only millennials and older will remember this. Queen of heaven, protector of women - it's a great name!

Jellifulfruit · 19/07/2023 11:07

Marnie Maya

GG1986 · 19/07/2023 10:44

Marnie is really cute x

farmerswife7 · 19/07/2023 10:41

I like Maya.

Anon8721 · 19/07/2023 10:12

I have a Theia and adore the name, was also considering Quinn.

Herejusttocomment · 19/07/2023 10:12

Maya or Alma are my favourites from this list.

Uokhon · 19/07/2023 10:06

Nellle · 17/07/2023 23:55

I have similar taste to you. Have to say Juno is my favourite as it's top of our list!

Marnie and Coco would be up there too if my partner liked them.

Not Maya if you want unusual. Pretty, but they're everywhere.

I have a 14m Juno, I thought it would be unusual but have met 2 others since and it’s not a big town! Our other choice was Athena and haven’t met any of them yet haha.

I like Juno and Maya. Thea is nice but very popular at the moment so could easily be in a class at school with lots of Theas

Simplehi · 19/07/2023 09:13

If I had to choose from this list it would be Thea or Maya. I'm honestly quite surprised how many people seem to be picking Coco & Bonnie, to me these are dog names and I certainly wouldn't want to be an adult named Coco.
Jude to me is more of a boys name & when I hear Juno I just think of that film about a pregnant teen. Bibi seems like more of a cutesy nickname not an actual name.

PumpkinsAndCoconuts · 19/07/2023 08:48

I like Thea, Alma (and Alba, as pp suggested!) Juno and Maya.

Marnie somehow makes me think of the word mardy. And sarnie. But it is quite cute.

when I hear Bibi I think “Netanyahu”. But that association may not be particularly relevant, considering his age…

Ohyousillydivvy · 19/07/2023 08:42

Some of my dd's friends are called:
Anna
Beatrice
Camelia
Zinnia
Lena
Carrie
Emelia
Zena
Roberta nn Bobby
Arabella nn Bella
Alexandra nn Sandy

Ohyousillydivvy · 19/07/2023 08:39

Thea - good choice
Coco - cocoa the monkey or coco pops. Not a name for a 35 Yr old woman
Bonnie - 1970s nickname
Bibi - granny's nickname
Alma - granny name
Jude - boy's name
Maya - loads of Maya's now but nice name
Juno - bit dated now
Marnie - it's OK, not my favourite

Hazelnut9 · 19/07/2023 08:30

Maya, Juno or Bonnie

Applestreet · 19/07/2023 08:12

We definitely have similar taste in names! I love (in this order)

Bonnie
Thea
Marnie
Juno
Coco
Alma

I also really like:
Alba
Arlo
Anya
Delilah

AuntMarch · 19/07/2023 08:00

Just remembered a friend of mine dated a girl caller Judah about 15 years ago. I don't love it but do think there'd be less assumption it was a male name

Maireas · 19/07/2023 07:53

Actually it can mean kind, loving and young depending on Arabic, Hebrew or Aramaic.

Maireas · 19/07/2023 07:52

Lemon1111 · 19/07/2023 07:50

Alma it was my grandmothers name :)

I think it's a lovely name. Doesn't it mean light?
