Baby girl due... please help!

I didn't realise how many names rhymed.

We don't want anything too cute e.g Daisy, Poppy etc

We don't want anything too old fashioned e.g Betsy, Enid etc

Names we like

Eliza
Florence
Maeve
Clara
Leah (doesn't work with Lee)
Emily (Favourite name but doesn't work with Lee)
Rosa (Another Favourite but doesn't work with Lee)

We have considered but gone off:

Emilia
Amelia
Isabella
Isabelle
Hannah
Charlotte (harlot?)

Hit me with your favourite names pls.

Could you hyphenate the name so it's 'Emily-Rose Lee' and then just call her Emily?

She'll probably drop the -Rose and will be Emily Lee
The Emma-Janes and Sarah-Louises of my era just get known by the first of the two hyphenated names.

Emma Lee would be a very silly name to give her.

Well that's me told 😶😄
I kind of presumed there would be a middle name in between too but leaving that up to the OP. If you add a middle name in it sounds really nice to me.

Sloane Lee

Now I've got that song by The Police going around in my head - and then somebody mentioned Roxanne!

Sara

Great suggestion - nobody doesn't like Sara Lee!!

DameKatyDenisesClagnuts · 18/07/2023 22:26

Are 70s/80s names coming back?

I've noticed Samantha, Amanda, Andrea and Michaela so far on this thread

Froginmyhouse · 18/07/2023 22:25

Someone said it in the first few posts but Lydia Lee sounds like a film star, plenty of people would love that as a stage name. Gets my vote

momtoboys · 18/07/2023 22:21

Absolutely love Maeve. I also like Maura and Aiofe.

What about Emma? If you like Emily it would sound very similar

True but it sounds like she has no surname

I'd go with Emma and then you basically have Emily with the full name

Perfect

Idratherbepaddleboarding · 18/07/2023 21:24

I think you need a name that ends in a consonant or it all blends into one. I agree that an ‘n’ or ‘m’ makes a good ending. Although I do think Leah Lee is very cute!

Tulipvase · 18/07/2023 21:19

Laurie

TheOGCCL · 18/07/2023 21:15

I think it needs to be long/ three syllables, like Caroline, Francesca, Catherine, Clementine, Georgina, Victoria, Elizabeth.

InTheFutilityRoomEatingBiscuits · 18/07/2023 21:01

You need more syllables and fewer ls and es.

Lee mimics the currently popular for girls -ie -ee -y ending sound.

I’m not a fan of anything too popular so here are my suggestions.

Ingrid
Deborah
Roxanne
Jocelyn
Elinor
Delphine
Judith
Nadine
Monica
Ramona
Rhiannon
Imelda
Marissa
Breanna

I think my favourite is Roxanne. That would be a cool name. Roxy Lee.

DEFINITELY not Anna, Annie or Annabel - nothing that sounds like anally is ever a good name choice!!

I think with a short surname a longer first name works better, so something like:
Rebecca Lee
Octavia Lee
Natasha Lee

Willow Lee is nice too?

Definitely not willow lee, if you say it quickly it sounds like Willy. Maybe I’m just immature.

peaceofmind1 · 18/07/2023 20:55

fancreek · 18/07/2023 19:05

Why don't you double barrel your surname so you're both represented, then pick Emily if it's your favourite name?

We have older children so that's really not option
