Lucy

I always think Leila is a bit slapperish (😬)

Disgusting comment. My daughter is a Layla. You can see I’ve posted that on the thread. She is a wonderfully smart beautiful and kind person - who would never think someone is slapperish based on their name. What’s your name? Is that slapperish?

Coffeeandcakemum · 17/07/2023 12:32

Leila 😊

ILikeDinosaurs · 17/07/2023 12:27

Leila, also love Leilani. Lucy is boring and common to me :/

RuthW · 17/07/2023 12:19

Lucy is much nicer

KirstenBlest · 17/07/2023 11:14

Lucy is nice, Luciana and Lucinda aren't.

I prefer Lucy, classic & timeless. Only ever known two Lucy’s. Out of my two DS’ only one Lucy in my younger sons class. Leila seems a bit dated. Many congrats OP.

fruitypancake · 17/07/2023 05:33

Lucy all the way .. classy and timeless

peaceinourtime · 17/07/2023 05:26

When I first saw this I thought it was Leia which is nice spelling of Leah.

Whatames · 16/07/2023 22:23

I have a Leila and also a daughter with middle name Lucy. I think they are both lovely. Lucy is more classic and I like the meaning associated with light. I liked Leila because I think it is more of an international name with Arabic origins.

OopsieeDaisy · 16/07/2023 22:20

Of the two I’d pick Lucy, agree with some above comments on Leila. How about Lucia?

continentallentil · 16/07/2023 22:06

Lucy

FoodFann · 16/07/2023 21:59

Lucy is classic and pretty. Leila sounds common to me, sorry!

JobMatch3000 · 16/07/2023 21:54

How about Lucille?

RoseMartha · 16/07/2023 21:47

Lucy

namechanged221 · 16/07/2023 21:30

Lucy... classic

HuntingoftheSnark · 16/07/2023 21:29

Lucy.

ChimpyChops · 16/07/2023 21:18

I love Lucy out of the two ❤️

However, if spelt Layla then I would struggle to choose!

Leila depends on how you want to pronounce it. I know a Leila (Lee-la) and a Layla, both over 40.

salamithumbs · 16/07/2023 21:16

Both nice but I prefer Lucy, and agree it will save all the Laila/Leila/Leyla/Layla spelling hassle!

clobie · 16/07/2023 21:15

Leila - Lucy is very overused. There are 4 Lucys in my DN class, my sister is called Lucy, and so is my friend. Leila is more unique and is very pretty.

My sister also hates her name because it sounds like Loo-seat

popicenice · 16/07/2023 21:14

Lucy now just reminds me of Lucy letby

shoopshoopdedoo · 16/07/2023 21:13

I prefer Lucy, but both are lovely.

pambeeslyhalpert2 · 16/07/2023 21:01

Congratulations! Lucy is lovely

Honeybeesintrees · 16/07/2023 13:49

I have a Lucy and it suits her perfectly.
Leila was on our list but like others worried about the issues of pronunciation as there are so many similar names so my vote is Lucy

CandleWick4 · 16/07/2023 12:22

Leila but maybe think about spelling it Layla. Helps with the pronunciation. I have a Layla and I think it’s lovely.

However Lucy is a very classic and pretty and underused name these days.

I think you can’t go wrong with either!
