Hi all, I don't know the sex of our baby but if it's a girl then my DH and I like Rosanna, Annika and Matilda. Which do you prefer?

Annika. Rosanna to me sounds old fashioned but not in the same 'cool' retro way as Iris, Violet, Ada. And there are millions of Matildas atm.

Wond3rment · 23/07/2023 21:02

I knew a Roseanna when I was in primary school, lovely name.

I know a lovely person called Roseanne.

Both are uncommon amongst kids today so either would get my vote.

Rainbowfruitpunch · 23/07/2023 20:57

Matilda feels like it will date to the 2010s-2020s whereas the others feel timeless. I prefer Annika and I also like Anya, Anouk, and Anoushka

Dillydollydingdong · 23/07/2023 20:00

They're all lovely names.

Maireas · 23/07/2023 19:58

They're all very nice names, not too unusual, but not in common usage, iyswim.
Rosanna is my favourite. Although I love Matilda!
When's the baby due?

timetobackout · 16/07/2023 14:15

Rosanna not roseanne.

timetobackout · 16/07/2023 14:14

Our adult daughter is a Rosanne always answers to Rosie as do an alarmingly high percentage of dogs😋

Whattheflipflap · 16/07/2023 13:53

Love anneka

Whatisityoucantface · 16/07/2023 08:48

I like all of them. Especially Rosanna, maybe because I knew a lovely one.

LadyEloise1 · 15/07/2023 10:43

I like Rose, I like Anna but I don't like them together.
I like Annie Rose.
I like Rosie.
I'm not mad about Annick or Annika I'd prefer Annalise or Annalie.
Matilda is nice but popular at the moment.

continentallentil · 15/07/2023 09:26

Rosanna

Matilda is nice but overdone and I don’t like Annika.

There are an awful lot of Annies and Rose/Rosa/Rosies about though, and she’s quite likely to end up known as one of them, if that bothers you.

Annis
Annalise / Annalisa
Anneli
Erica
Susannah
Miranda
Marina

might be others

Annika. It sounds fresh.

garlictwist · 15/07/2023 04:26

Really dislike Matilda. Annika is very pretty

user1492757084 · 15/07/2023 03:05

I love Annika and Anneke.
I know one who won a Queens Birthday Award.
Matilda I also love.
Rosanna is sweet and unusual.

All great choices!

Theoldwoman · 15/07/2023 01:59

Rosanna or Roseanne

Cattenberg · 15/07/2023 00:52

I like all three.

Annika is a diminutive of Ann or Anna, but that might not bother you, especially as it’s become a name in its own right. It’s quite rare in the UK, so isn’t dated. I think it sounds fresh and pretty.

Matilda is in the top 30 girls’ names in the UK at the moment, so there’ll probably be several others in your daughter’s school.

Rosanna isn’t very fashionable at the moment, but I don’t think it’s common enough to sound dated. Rose is popular at the moment and names ending in “a” are still a trend. So, I think Rosanna fits in.

Alstoybarn · 15/07/2023 00:51

Matilda bit rosanna is something I'd never ever considered and I feel like I may love it!

BatheInTheLight · 15/07/2023 00:41

I like Matilda. I think if you called her Rosanna, friends would end up calling her Ros, which I don't like. Also makes me think of the US comedy Roseanne!

dovesong · 15/07/2023 00:39

Love Matilda - particularly as it's my favourite children's book!

LulooLemon · 15/07/2023 00:38

Rosanna

Topazbutterfly · 15/07/2023 00:02

My favourite is Rosanna, really nice name

Daisybuttercup12345 · 14/07/2023 23:51

Not keen on any of them.
If you like Anna why not choose that?
Annabel
Arrabella
Anita
Annette
Ann
Alice
Anthea
Adele

Izz1 · 14/07/2023 23:24

Love Matilda, like Rosanna, like Anna and Annie, but I think Annika sounds harsh and for some reason I think the spelling seems unfriendly.

sandrene · 14/07/2023 23:14

I really dislike Matilda - it has become very overused. Rosanna and Annika are both beautiful and interesting names!

WillyLows · 14/07/2023 23:13

I like Annika!
