Girl due soon. I have a massive list of names and I love all of them just as equally and I am unable to narrow them down.

Fae
Liona
Kassia
Willow
Inez
Ailsa
Holly
Seren
Brooke
Verity
Romy
Leesa
Phoebe
Spencer
Melody
Emelina
Ivy
Tate
Alva
Genevieve
Meadow
Elle
Nova
Jolie
Maribelle

I’m aware some of these might sound ridiculous to you but me and DP both love them

TIA 💕

I like holly

Mythoughtextract · 13/07/2023 21:54

I would expect Holly or ivy would be a December baby

I would think Spencer was a boy

Would you pronounce Jolie like jolly or jo-lee like the actress? And would it bother you if people key getting it wrong.

Inez Ailsa Maribelle and Genevieve I'd associate with other countries do you have connections with them and would that be ok

I would only use melody in a musical family as it would be unfortunate if she was tone deaf

Leesa is an odd spelling of Lisa so people might assume the family can't spell properly or aren't very clever. - or your child is at risk of going into care and you want to be able to track her

17caterpillars1mouse · 13/07/2023 21:52

If I was shortlisting your list I'd go with

Phoebe
Inez
Melody

Some thoughts if wanted

Fae - cute but will be constantly misspelt
Liona - wouldnt be sure if pronounced like Leona or Ly-O-nuh
Kassia - ok, better with a C
Willow - trendy, will date
Ailsa - unsure how to say
Holly - meg
Seren - not a fan
Brooke - ok, a bit 10 years ago
Verity - never warmed to it
Romy - will date
Leesa - dislike
Spencer - surname or boys name
Emelina - blends in to all the other Em names
Ivy - so overdobe right now
Tate - male
Alva - prefer Alba
Genevieve - like Ginny
Meadow - would you want to be called Meadow?
Elle - L
Nova - not a fan
Jolie - Angelina
Maribelle - too cutsy

Highlyflavouredgravy · 13/07/2023 21:48

holly and phoebe are lovely names.
ditch all the others

Totallyconfusedperson · 13/07/2023 21:47

Phoebe and Elle are my favs

PowderPeach · 13/07/2023 21:46

Verity is my favourite from your list. Maybe with Genevieve, Willow or Meadow as a middle name.

KellyanneConway · 13/07/2023 21:44

Holly
Ivy
Nova
Kassia (assuming pronounced Kasha the Polish way)
Romy (prefer as nn for Ramona)

The rest seem a bit cult member/ hippy dippy/ California for me, apart from Elle and Brooke which are a bit “meh”

Purpleolive8 · 13/07/2023 21:42

Melody - ok
Emelina - no
Ivy - ok
Tate - no
Alva - no

Meadow - ok
Elle - no
Nova - yes
Jolie - no
Maribelle - no

Daffodilwoman · 13/07/2023 21:42

Why don’t you and your oh pick your favourite 10. Narrow it down further by seeing which names you have both chosen. Then if you still have lots of names both pick your favourite 5. If you still have more than 2 names both pick your top 3. This should narrow it right down.

FromNowOn23 · 13/07/2023 21:39

I love
Genevieve
Verity

Don’t like
Tate
Ivy
Meadow
Leesa

Pinkchicken85 · 13/07/2023 21:38

Verity by a county mile.

beachsandseaicecream · 13/07/2023 21:35

Personally I'd narrow down to:

Verity
Ivy
Phoebe
Elle

OctogenarianDecathlete · 13/07/2023 21:34

Apologies for any offence caused, but you did ask!

Fae - creepy manga-addled trans identified men
Liona - ok, like Fiona
Kassia - prefer as Kasia
Willow - LOVE IT!
Inez - 'salright
Ailsa - marmite name, though I like it. I prefer Aileen
Holly - never met an unpleasant Holly and I've known many of them! Lovely girls!
Seren - lovely but a bit 2008
Brooke - Brooke has Attitude
Verity - rare and lovely
Romy - never met one, sounds lovely
Leesa - looks like you can't spell. Just go with Lisa for a classic name
Phoebe - Pheeeebs - still with the friends references and associations
Spencer - for a girl? I can only think of that man from that reality show.
Melody - bit twee
Emelina - made up? Isn't there a hospital with this name? Emily better?
Ivy - lovely but popular
Tate - Andrew 😬
Alva - sounds masculine
Genevieve - too fussy
Meadow - lovely, I'd worry it's a lot to live up to
Elle - I like it
Nova - now, I immediately think "Vauxhall", but second thought is "super" and I like that!
Jolie - Angelina. But also lovely.
Maribelle - no opinion on this.

I'd be stuck choosing between Meadow and Nova. Nova is really growing on me.

But, ultimately, whatever you choose will become the right name.

Unless you choose tinkerbelle. And she grows up to become a rugby player. (True story)

WaterBaby9 · 13/07/2023 21:33

Inez is one of my favourites x

ReadRum · 13/07/2023 21:32

If you both love them all, take it in turns to cross one off and see what’s left.

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 13/07/2023 21:27

I'd short list.
Fae.
Willow
Kassia.
Inez.
Holly
Brooke
Romy.
Leesa.
Melody.
Meadow
Maribelle.
