Girl due soon. I have a massive list of names and I love all of them just as equally and I am unable to narrow them down.

Fae
Liona
Kassia
Willow
Inez
Ailsa
Holly
Seren
Brooke
Verity
Romy
Leesa
Phoebe
Spencer
Melody
Emelina
Ivy
Tate
Alva
Genevieve
Meadow
Elle
Nova
Jolie
Maribelle

I’m aware some of these might sound ridiculous to you but me and DP both love them

TIA 💕

Fae - I don't like the spelling. Faye is lovely.

Romy - oki

Genevieve - beautiful name.

Jolie - lovely name.

I don't like the others!

Randomnamex · 14/07/2023 02:30

Youve sent me down a Andrew Tate rabbit hole. Oh my sweet jesus 😳 Will definitely not be using that one.

swimlyn · 14/07/2023 02:08

I'd go for Astrid.

Smallonesaremorejuicy · 14/07/2023 01:43

Any of them except Willow

NBLarsen · 14/07/2023 01:38

I would shortlist:
Fay (sorry, love Fay and Faye but can't get my head around Fae)
Leona (likewise, lovely name, no need to use an unusual spelling)
Inez, Holly, Seren, Phoebe, Verity, Ailsa, love them
Alva, never heard this before, so pretty

I'd rule off:
Kassia and Romy, however wrong, these remind me instantly of Boris Johnson, who I can't stand (his daughters names)
Willow, it's a beautiful name but I dislike Will or god forbid Willy as nicknames.
Spencer, it's a boys name
Ivy and Elle, just done to death, so over popular these days

No particular feelings towards the others on the list, don't love, like or dislike.

whatausername · 14/07/2023 01:31

Tate - tate sniffer (also Andrew)
Alva - a rather grey rundown place

SageRosemary · 14/07/2023 01:21

That's a long shortlist! So, I'm just going to be honest.

Fae - misspelt, should be Faye
Liona - misspelt, should be Leona or Fiona - both lovely
Kassia - misspelt, should be Cassia - not keen
Willow - may be overused
Inez - not keen
Ailsa - lovely
Holly - lovely for a winter baby
Seren - may be overused, I prefer Serena
Brooke - no
Verity - it's okay, a virtue name can be onerous
Romy - it's okay
Leesa - hate this spelling, stick with Lisa/Elizabeth
Phoebe - right after Lisa (Kudrow), are we in an episode of Friends - it's nice
Spencer - fine for a boy
Melody - BEST name on your list
Emelina - I'm familiar with Emmeline (lovely), this just looks made up!
Ivy - another winter baby, twin for Holly
Tate - fine for a boy
Alva - nice
Genevieve - nice
Meadow - may be overused
Elle - nice, but would use it as a pet name for Eleanor/Elinor
Nova - dear God, no!
Jolie - no, but Julie/Juliana would be lovely
Maribelle - looks made up

Have you considered Rosemary? Otherwise Melody, Leona, Julie would all be lovely names. Best of luck to you and your baby.

Justcashnosweets · 14/07/2023 01:05

Geneveive and Nova are my favorites on your list. In fact Nova was on my list if I ever had a 2nd girl!

Sugarfree23 · 14/07/2023 00:56

Ivy - yes
Tate - art gallery or sugar - no

Jolie - ok
Maribelle - yes.

Cammac · 14/07/2023 00:43

Cassia. But I’d prefer Kessia

salamithumbs · 13/07/2023 23:59

Sorry missed out a few! I'd keep Seren on the shortlist- lovely, not too popular, and only one way to spell it!
Nova sounds a bit dated... I feel it was popular among American influencers maybe 10 years ago.
Romy- fine but sounds a bit nicknamey/incomplete; I prefer it as a nickname for Rosa or something

salamithumbs · 13/07/2023 23:55

I really like Ailsa, Emelina and Cassia (spelt this way, just think it looks much nicer and I would imagine Kassia would get spelled incorrectly) since they're all lovely and unusual without being silly. Genevieve, Faye and Alva are also fine.

If you don't want a name that's too common, I'd rule out Ivy, Phoebe, Willow, Holly and Brooke, as they're more popular, but they are nice names and maybe you don't mind about popularity.

To avoid spelling/pronunciation problems, I would probably rule out..
-Maribelle: too likely to be mistaken for Mirabel
-Liona: could get spelled as Leona or pronounced to rhyme with Iona
-Leesa : will be misspelt as Lisa and sounds a bit dated anyway

I would definitely rule out...
-Jolie: too Angelina Jolie
-Tate: doesn't sound like a first name, sounds like an emmerdale surname or a gallery
-Meadow: very Bambi-ish and airy fairy...I would really not like to be called Meadow
-Spencer: I thought this was a boys name (and a pretentious one at that), also makes me think of Diana

Don't personally like Verity (sounds ferrety to me) or Inez but nothing wrong with them as such!

Beautifulsunflowers · 13/07/2023 22:54

I’m not going to comment on your individual names.
some things to consider
do you have a middle name in mind? How do the initials work together?
do you want a name that has nn potential?
do you care about popularity? Ivy for example has been quite popular the last few years.
does your surname flow or go with the names?

UsingChangeofName · 13/07/2023 22:49

Daffodilwoman · 13/07/2023 21:42

Why don’t you and your oh pick your favourite 10. Narrow it down further by seeing which names you have both chosen. Then if you still have lots of names both pick your favourite 5. If you still have more than 2 names both pick your top 3. This should narrow it right down.

This.

I mean, clearly you and your dp clearly have very different tastes from me, but this way, at least you will end up with a name you both like.
You are in a much better place than couples who can't find any names to agree on.

shoopshoopdedoo · 13/07/2023 22:37

Inez is my favourite, followed by Phoebe and Verity. I like Faye and Cassia. Ailsa, Genevieve and Holly are OK.
