Baby already here and can't decide!

Dh and I are REALLY struggling to name our son. We just haven't been able to decide definitively and now baby is already here and we really need to get a move on!

We have narrowed it down (I think) to either Arthur or Evander.

Our surname is Rose so any name we choose needs to fit nicely with that and not be too tricky to say one after the other. Other names we considered were Alexander, Austin and Theodore.

All suggestions/opinions very welcome and much appreciated. Thanks so much in advance x

Or Arthur with nick name Arty or Artie

Archie Rose

Avery Rose

I like Evander- lovely name.

Now I can't help hearing the Arthur Rose/ R for Rose thing from the pp.

On that basis I'd probably choose Evander, Austin or Alexander. You should try each out for a day and see how right it feels on the baby saying it out loud.

ArthurPoppy · 12/07/2023 23:14

Austin Rose or Alexander Rose - with Alex being used day to day so that the R doesn't blend into Rose.

Cakeandcoffee93 · 12/07/2023 23:09

Evander is the one!
very beautiful name and strong and memorable for when he is older
wow I’m jealous

RosesAndHellebores · 12/07/2023 23:06

I think you need something without an R.

John
James
Julian
George works despite the R
Magnus
Dylan
Felix
Nathan

I'm surprised at the love for Evander - I don't like it at all and have only come across the boxer.
Evan is much nicer.
Arthur is lovely.

Outdamnspot23 · 12/07/2023 23:03

What about a different E name with a soft ending like Eli or Elijah or a hard ending like Everett or Elliott.

FayCarew · 12/07/2023 23:01

Austin is fine. I know 2.

BonjourCrisette · 12/07/2023 23:00

Austin is pretty terrible, assuming you are in the UK.

Arthur and Alexander are safe choices and both are nice names.

Theodore is OK.

Evander is a bit out there though a nice name.

The R run on thing does depend on your accent as to whether this is a real issue. In mine it would only be much of an issue with Theodore (who is unlikely to be called Theodore all his life).

SeasonsBleatings · 12/07/2023 22:57

Evander reminds me of the boxer, Arthur Rose is an unusual but classic sounding name.

Suggeations:
Everett
Orlando
Elliott
Sebastian
Isaac
Daniel
Milo
Samuel
Finlay

Lucas

Julian
Beckett
Barnaby
Felix
Nathaniel

The Rs in Alexander, Arthur, Theodore and Evander run into the R of Rose.

Austin is your best name of the list you've been considering.

LadyWithLapdog · 12/07/2023 22:42

Not keen on how Evander Rose flows, I hear a bit of a Dross sound in there. The others are good. I like Arthur Rose in particular.

FayCarew · 12/07/2023 22:38

Arthur - fine
Evander - will be too close to Eva/Evelyn Rose
Alexander - Alex Rose a bit girly
Austin - David Austin Rose Smile
Theodore - Theo/Teddy Rose too close to Thea Rose.

Velvetbee · 12/07/2023 22:34

Evander is gorgeous.

Aquamarine1029 · 12/07/2023 22:34

I vote for Austin.

oliveroses · 12/07/2023 22:32

I love Evander, what a gorgeous name!

Groundbreaking · 12/07/2023 22:26

I love both names but with Arthur Rose I can't help but hear "R for Rose" (especially if you know people who pronounce TH as an F).

SilverstoneF1 · 12/07/2023 22:23

I think Evandro otherwise is sounds like half a rose.

Yes it does! Evander is a lovely name, unusual but hard to mispronounce.

I di really like Alexander and it was very close to being the name we chose for DS but we just kept hearing it everywhere which put us off.

SilverstoneF1 · 12/07/2023 22:23

*Evander

SilverstoneF1 · 12/07/2023 22:23

I think Evandro otherwise is sounds like half a rose.

pambeeslyhalpert2 · 12/07/2023 22:21

Theodore, Alexander or Evander are my fave. What a lovely surname. Congratulations!
