Thoughts on Herbert or Wilbert - thought could we nn this Billy or Bertie and Herbert - Herbie or Bertie

I like old fashioned names which are not overused.

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

@pambeeslyhalpert2 Adorable toddler names may not be so cute on a full grown man.
Basil Fawlty. Basil Brush.
Oswald Mosley fascist connections.
Honestly @pambeeslyhalpert2 have you spent time with any adolescent boys lately. They would not thank you for those names!

I actually know kids with all of these names. Might not be up your street but they are old man names and they're all back now: there's millions of Arthur's and that's the dullest name ever, at least these have abit of character

JMSA · 11/07/2023 16:31

Oh God, no. Sorry.

I know an adorable 2 year old Herbie. Love it

toomuchlaundry · 11/07/2023 13:44

Poor child

Saynowt · 11/07/2023 13:41

Spotty Herbert. Both awful old mens names IMO like Howard. I have a teenage boy he would HATE to be called the proper names you mention.

How about Barnaby nn Barney?
Frank nn Frankie?

RuthW · 11/07/2023 13:37

Love love Wilbert (and Wilbur and Wilfred).

Not so keen on Herbert.

WhisperingAutistic · 11/07/2023 13:18

Neither
Albert if you must

Treecreature · 11/07/2023 13:17

They both rhyme with pervert, easy target for play ground insults.

TenThousandSpoons · 11/07/2023 13:17

Prefer Wilfred to Wilbert.

Definitely not Herbert.

midsomermurderess · 11/07/2023 13:13

It’s a pity people think that "bert’ is ugly. It’s Germanic, meaning bright.

Davestwattymissus · 11/07/2023 13:13

I really like Wilbert!

MouseSculptureMadeOfOldHairbrushFluff · 11/07/2023 13:08

No bloke wants to be called Wilbert or Herbert.

buckarootoo · 11/07/2023 13:07

Wilbert is nice, Gilbert also a good option.

I like Wilbo/Gilbo as nicknames

PossiblyNotOne · 11/07/2023 13:01

I don’t like either, Wilfred yes. I don’t think anyone wants to be called Wilbert.

StopStartStop · 11/07/2023 12:45

My grandma's brothers were George (after his paternal grandfather), Wilfrid, Harold, Herbert, Sydney, and Joseph (after his dad).

TheresBoozeInTheBlender · 11/07/2023 12:42

Herbert is an insult where I am

WAC1 · 11/07/2023 12:40

I wasn't brave enough for Herbert but think it's so cool

WAC1 · 11/07/2023 12:39

Love them both

Toddler101 · 11/07/2023 12:33

I wanted Wilbur but DH vetoed 😔

Wilbert is nice!

What about Hubert?

24Dogcuddler · 11/07/2023 12:32

Really don’t like either sorry.
Albert might be better and can be Bert, Bertie or Albie.

Michelle97 · 11/07/2023 12:32

Albert

EmpressaurusOfCats · 11/07/2023 12:30

-bert is a really ugly sound, I wouldn’t.
